That night, to welcome the Italian family to Illéa, a ball is thrown. Unfortunately, I gave Jane the day off so she could hang out with friends who she rarely saw, and her replacement is a middle aged woman whose idea of clothes for a princess is ball gowns with HUGE skirts. I argued with her for half an hour, then ran to Eadlyn's room and asked her for a dress design. She handed me one, and I ran back to my room and showed the lady. She finally agreed because Eadlyn is the heir. I got off easily, with a lilac strapless ball gown with vertical ruffles on the skirt, paired with a silver tiara and heels. Luckily, with Prince August back in Swendway, I won't tower over any boys, since the Selected are all taller than I am by quite a bit, and Arthur is 6'1, so it won't be awkward to wear heels, and my hair is in a side bun.
I hear a knock on the door.
"Hello? Celeste, you there?" Arthur asks.
"Hang on one moment!" I say before opening the door.
"Eadlyn?" he asks.
"No... Celeste," I reply, wondering how he, of all people, could mistake me for my sister.
"You look exactly like Eadlyn. Even the dress, tiara, and hair," he says.
"What?"
"I'll show you."
Sure enough, when we get to the Great Hall, Eadlyn is wearing the same dress, tiara, and hairstyle. The only difference is that her heels are gold instead of silver, and her dress is gray instead of lilac. That means only a few people are going to be able to tell us apart, and they are the people we've lived with for years.
"This is going to be awkward if one of the Selected thinks you're Eadlyn," Arthur whispers.
"Well, I'll just have to change before anyone notices me. I might have something in my closet," I whisper back.
"I'll come with you. Hopefully no one will think you're Eadlyn if I'm with you because Eadlyn would be more likely to walk with Kile or Ahren," Arthur suggests.
"Okay," I reply, "let's go."
Author's Note
For the dress, imagine the dress on the cover of The Heir. Remember to change the color for Celeste.
