Resu had just finished arranging a bouquet when her phone vibrated. Clipping a ribbon to hold the flowers together, she glanced at the clock and quickly finished what she was doing. She placed the finished bouquets in the holders and grabbed her bag, yelling her goodbye to Saito-san.
"Hold on, Resu! Don't leave just yet."
The second year paused, spinning on her heel to turn to her boss. Saito-san smiled, her eyes crinkling, as she tucked a white carnation behind her ear. Resu's nose twitched at the feminine accessory and Saito-san laughed.
"It's for good luck, Resu. Tell the boys I wish them the best."
Resu grunted in return, waving goodbye once more before sprinting out the door. She checked the time on her phone, picking up the pace slightly. The bus was just around the corner, but she really didn't want to be late.
Luckily she made it just on time and she sighed as she slumped into the seat. Her hand reached up and touched the carnation gently, her black fingernails a stark contrast against the white petals.
She was feeling better, admittedly, but she still felt a little nervous. But Resu also felt excitement at the prospect of seeing a real, full-out match. She, obviously, had never seen one before and although volleyball was a bit boring to her, she still found it cool to see her friends play.
Resu bounded off the bus and took in the sight of the gym, a slight chill running over her spine. She ignored the looks of suspicion and entered the building, texting Hinata to alert him that she was here. A moment later he immediately responded with an overuse of exclamation marks, informing her of their location. Looking around, she headed left, hoping that that was the right direction to go.
As per usual, luck was not on her side. She was feeling a bit lost, glaring at the wall of the dead end hallway she was in. She had tried asking for directions but most people skittered away from her, or just stuttered that they didn't know.
Curse my reputation and intimidating appearance, Resu thought wistfully, pulling out her phone to text Hinata that she couldn't find her way there. He replied that he'd go and find her shortly, and her shoulders slumped with relief.
Something she didn't expect, however, was a pair of hands slithering around her waist. She immediately snarled in response, whipping around to hit the perpetrator, only to pause with her hand mid-air. Resu scowled.
"Let go of me, Tooru."
Oikawa Tooru smiled at her, releasing her after she actually did smack him upside the head. He rubbed the spot, now frowning, as he whined.
"Resuuuuuu, that really hurt," Oikawa said, drawing out her name. She bared her teeth in response as he chuckled.
"It's been so long! It's so good to see you."
"I wish I could say the same."
"Harsh as always, I see."
Despite her initial annoyance, she found herself grinning slightly as they talked. It had been a long time since they had seen each other, so it was nice to speak to him again. Her grin grew wider as Iwaizumi approached, barking at Oikawa to get a move on. He blinked once he saw Resu, smiling warmly as he joined the conversation, which was mainly just making fun of Oikawa now.
"I'm the captain now, and Iwa-chan's the vice captain and ace," Oikawa said smugly, sticking out his chest.
"Really? That's surprising," Resu replied dryly, smirking at the older boy's sigh.
"What are you doing here, by the way?" Iwaizumi asked.
"Oh, right... I'm here for Karasuno. I'm sort of their second manager, I guess."
