For once in her life, Resu was able to say everything went smoothly. The principal had agreed to get a contractor and even made Mitsurai pay for it since it was her doing. Though it wasn't a big deal considering she was rich, Resu enjoyed seeing the annoyed expression on her bandaged face. The gym was fixed much quicker than expected so the need of another was unnecessary and it looked better than it had ever before. Mitsurai and her friends also got suspended for a week, whereas Resu had only been given detention to her surprise.
Ever since the event, however, Resu had been doing her best to avoid the volleyball club. Of course, she went to her own club and helped clean the school, but other than that she stayed away from them.
Besides the fact that her mind constantly reminded her to stick to herself, Resu was also a bit apprehensive about approaching them again. She feared that ever since the fight that their opinions of her had changed and that they thought that was enough proof to prove the other rumors about her were true.
The second year frowned to herself slightly. Her class was reminded that Golden Week started tomorrow. Resu sat in her seat, her head bowed slightly as she picked at her food. Although lunch had just barely started, she wasn't feeling particularly hungry today, so she closed her bento box and shoved it inside her bag. She was about to leave to go sulk in the bathroom or something, but the sound of her name being yelled at the doorway caused her to freeze.
"RESU-CHAN, COME EAT LUNCH WITH US!"
Grimacing at the use of '-chan' with her name, she turned in her seat slightly. Nishinoya and Tanaka stood outside her classroom staring at her expectantly. Her classmates were shocked to see someone interacting with Resu positively and even more astonished as Resu stood up from her seat and joined the duo at the door.
"Do I have to remind you not to use honorifics with me?" She asked dryly, to which they grinned at her and led her up to the roof.
Resu was a bit surprised to see the rest of the volleyball club up there and she walked hesitantly behind the loud boys. Hinata shouted at her to sit next to him, his mouth full of food.
"Don't speak with your mouth full," Resu scolded, folding her legs underneath her and taking out her bento. Her appetite had yet to return so she simply poked at it once more, watching the team with a steady gaze.
They talked for a while, including her in all their conversations, although she was less keen on replying to them. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she snapped.
"Why are you all being so nice to me? Is this supposed to be a pity party or something?" Resu asked abruptly, her face twisted in a scowl.
"N-No, not at all!" Asahi interjected hesitantly, making sure to choose his words carefully, although that was easier said than done. "It was Hinata's idea, actually..."
"Idea?" She growled, her visible eye flashing threateningly.
"Okay, maybe that wasn't the best way to phrase it," Sugawara sighed, gesturing to the orange haired first year for him to explain.
"Um, well..." Hinata started, feeling sheepish under Resu's intense glare. "I've seen you walking by yourself all the time and you just looked really, really sad so!" He looked up at Resu, matching her gaze with a different ferocity. "I thought we could all be friends!"
Resu didn't realize she was holding her chopsticks so hard and as a result, they snapped in half, causing most of the team to freeze.
"Friends...?"
Hinata nodded fervently while everyone waited for an actual response from her.
But to be honest, she didn't know how to respond.
