|Madi's POV
I walked into school and felt a million eyes on me. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked to my locker. Frankie Zimmerman, my locker neighbor, pushed his glasses up when he saw me. I raised my eyebrow and unlocked my locker. "You okay, Frankie?"
"Is it true?" He asked, not answering my question. "Are you really dating Bryce Hall?"
"Word spreads fast." I sighed. If Frankie knew, everyone must've found out. How? I haven't even told my mom yet!
"I was in the band room and I heard Alyssa say something to Blake about it." He whispered to me as Alyssa walked by. She gave me a dirty look and continued to walk. Okay- she was cool at the mall, what's going on?
The bell rung and I grabbed my notebook, but then suddenly dropped everything. I sighed loudly and bent down to pick it up. I then saw a hand start to pick up my math book and english binder. I looked up and saw Bryce.
"Did you hear?" He whispered as we both stood up. He handed me my things as I closed my locker. We talked about it while walking to my first period, math. He thought Alyssa had something to do with it, too. I told him what Frankie had told me, only making Bryce angrier."We'll talk more about this after school," he said and gave me a quick kiss on my forehead. I instantly felt my face heat up. "I'll see you later, Angel."
I waved goodbye to him and smiled. I walked into class and sat next to Haillie, as usual.
---
I sighed and walked out of school. Bryce and Mark had a last minute basketball meeting and Haillie had chorus every Tuesday, meaning I had to walk the 15 minutes back to my house. I put my headphones in and began listening to Chris Brown.
Eventually, I got to my house. My mom and John were in the kitchen when I walked in. I gave them both hugs and grabbed a brownie.
"How was school my dear step daughter?" John asked and took a sip of his coffee.
"It's school, what do you expect?" I giggled and sat next to him. I bite my lip and prepared for what I was about to say. "I actually have to tell you guys something."
"Yes?" My mom asked, not looking up from her phone.
"Sooo, you know Mark's friend, Bryce?"
"Yes I do."
"Welllll, we're kinda sorta dating?" It came out more as a question than a statement. My mom looked up at me and smiled slightly.
"I always knew you'd be the 'My Brother's Best Friend Is My Boyfriend' type of gal." She laughed slightly and hugged me. "As long as he keeps you happy, i don't care if you guys see each other."
"I do!" John yelled, trying not to laugh. "He's over here like 99.7% of the time! If we leave them alone, 9 months later there could be a little Madi running around here!"
"Johnny, my dear old step father." I quoted and put my hands on his shoulder. "I'm 16. I don't plan on doing the dirty until marriage. You don't have to worry about that."
Just then, the doorbell rang. I told them I would get it, hoping it was Bryce. I skipped to the door and opened it widely.
My heart dropped to my feet as I saw the familiar figure standing in the doorway. Tears began to form in my eyes and I frowned.
"D-dad?" I stuttered.
