Sarah-
"Hey Sarah, you've got a meeting next week." Alyssa leaned on the door frame of Sarah's room.
"What? No." She wrinkled her nose, letting loose a breath of air.
"Sorry. It's at your old job I think. It's the ice cream place right?" Alyssa shrugged.
"Yeah. I guess that's not that bad. I might see my roommate or something."
"I had one there yesterday, but anyway. I have some gossip."
"Spill." Sarah moved over on her bed. Alyssa plopped down and laid out a series of events that happened. Alyssa talked so fast Sarah could barely comprehend what she was saying. Eventually though, she got the gist. Apparently, she was in a ship.
When she asked, Alyssa simply said Spencer, but in a weird way.
She eventually switched the subject to her own life, which Sarah preferred to listen to better than some weird boat with Spencer's name on it. Sarah threw in her two cents of Alyssa's problems before Camille and Iesha shouted for curfew.
That night though, Sarah couldn't sleep. She thought about that ship thing as she rolled over under the covers. She thought it could be about what those girls were talking about yesterday.
Deciding to freshen up, Sarah went to the bathroom. Splashing water on her face, she stared in the mirror for a brief moment before walking slowly back towards her room. When she opened her door, the hallway light poured into the dark room. Something caught her eye from under her bed.
She flicked the light switch. Peeking under the bed, Sarah noticed several sheets of purple laminated paper in the shape of hearts.
These were the original decorations they were going to put up in the hall. Sarah would ask what to do with them in the morning.
For now though, she placed it on her desk.
Ugh.
