I wonder what the hell could be happening. Everything started becoming weird ever since we got this ring which I’m starting to believe is magic. We meet four hot guys, then Claire hit her head because of the burning ring, Artemis almost got hit if not for the car’s change in target (not like it ever was going to try and hit Artemis, I know that for a fact), and Lizzie acted a little suspicious when she received that phone call from her older brother. I sort of get the feeling she has a big secret… Well she must have good reasons to keep it from us. It’s not like I don’t have a secret of my own.

We entered August’s room and found the guys. Jasper was grinning at August while Adrian was talking about how women know nothing about cars. My eyes unconsciously searched for North and I found him sitting on a chair, looking absolutely breath-taking. He caught my gaze and arrogantly raised a brow. How can someone look so hot and annoying at the same time?

When we entered, I think I saw the hopeful glint in August’s eyes as he searched for Artemis, thinking she came in with us. I caught his eyes and shook my head at him, telling him she had already left.

Claire saw what I did and tilted her head cutely as to express her question. I just stuck out my tongue and grinned. That earned me a good punch on the shoulder.

“Adrian would you shut up already,” Lizzie said as she shoved herself between Jasper and Adrian. “August just got hit by a car, he doesn’t need your geeky sermons about them.”

Adrian frowned while Jas and August laughed. He muttered something about women then it was almost as if a light bulb appeared over his head and he slung an arm around Liz. She blushed but she was about to snap at him when he said, “You’re going on a date with me. Saturday, eight o’ clock.”

Lizzie blushed bright red and opened her mouth to tell him what nerve he has to declare something so absurd when he added, “I’ll show you how good a racer I am. Then you’ll have to stop treating me like I’m just some ordinary car geek.”

Claire nudged me and giggled, “Come on Liz,” she teased.

“Shut up stitches,” she said with a grin. She tossed her hair back over her shoulder haughtily and smirked at Adrian, “Fine. I’ll look forward to see how lame a racer you are.”

Adrian smirked back.

Claire went to August and asked, “Hey, did you save Artemis from getting hit by a car?”

August glanced at me and I shrugged in response. Just because I was in all of this doesn’t mean I have all the answers.

“Uh, yeah… I did.”

Claire smiled and patted his hand, “Then thanks for protecting our friend.”

I looked away guiltily. It’s hard keeping secrets, especially around someone as sweet as Claire. I murmured my thanks to August which he chuckled at since we were sharing a private joke, and I made my way to the vacant chair beside North.

As I neared, the ring started becoming warm. I stopped and looked at it. It had a slight glow of pink and I blinked. Hmm…

I stepped back a few paces and visibly saw the glow disappear.

“Cool,” I whispered.

I went back to North and saw the glow grow brighter. What is this? A hot guy detector?

I was unaware that North was watching me when I again stopped then changed direction. I went to Jasper.

Well, yeah, he is hot. He’s got red hair and contrasting blue eyes. A very nice feature and his face is very handsome. But when I went to him, the ring didn’t glow.
