'You are trapped in a cage..
no one sees it.. not even you..
you don't know what it's made of..
you don't even know where it came from..
but you feel it.. it's all around you..
it is full of strength
that it forbids you to move freely..
it separates you from your happiness and it controls your thoughts..
you are robbed
but you don't know what was taken..
you're in a place
but you don't know where you're heading..
you don't even know how you got there..
or who has brought you there..
you know you've been through a lot ,
but your memories are distorted..
it is seizing you little by little..
you are trapped but no one sees it..Not even you.'
-Melody's POV-
At school:
I walked to school with Jimin today.
Life at school was so fun with him; he'd always be imitating the teachers while they weren't looking. He'd turn around and pull a face, causing me to almost burst out with laughter. Once, he did an impression of our maths teacher and spoke too loud that everyone heard it. The class started laughing, earning a strange look from the teacher, but he didn't seem to hear what Jimin had said, luckily. I gave him an air high five as the teacher then groaned and told us to be quiet & concentrate.
One day during break I sat down and started drawing the view in front of me - even though the view was not so picturesque - just a field and some girls running about. It was a sunny day, the light breeze brushing my hair into my face. As always, Jimin came to sit next to me and sat there watching as I sketched the outline. He seemed intrigued so I continued without greeting him. That's the way it always was; we could communicate and have mutual understanding without saying anything at all.
"Drawing again?" He cheekily smiled at me, leaning in to see.
"Yeah," I answered calmly, a small smile forming on my lips.
"You're always drawing... what about doing something else??" He sighed ; I sensed his restlessness and felt him move about where he sat.
I chuckled.
"I mean it wouldn't be much of a walk but alright."
I gathered my things and put them into my bag, slinging it over my shoulder.
"Let's go!!" Jimin stretched, yawning before standing up.
For the rest of break we had a stroll around the school. It was rather pointless but it felt good ; us in our own world, warming under the sun. At times like that I was thankful for our friendship. We naturally clicked the second we met, which is unusual for a person as introverted as I am. Plus, all my life my best friends have been boys ; something about them gave me more comfort than being with girls who could be petty and just way too complicated. Except for Katrina, my other soulmate.
The next lessons were science and sports.
We played netball, which I'd groaned at the sound of when the teacher had announced it ; it was coincidentally the sport I am the worst at.
I totally embarrassed myself in front of everyone by tripping over absolutely nothing, causing my knee to become grazed ; but of course, Jimin walked with me to medical and cleaned up my wound. For the rest of the day he'd peered down at me multiple times and asked "How's your knee?" with a concerned look on his face as if I was a porcelain doll that'd been just about glued back together. At lunch Jimin had to go to basketball practice and I decided to go watch him. It took place in the sports hall which is mainly used for the sport. Jimin was on the red team and a guy named Baekhyun was on the blue team. There was a girl eyeing me, and I guessed that she must be his girlfriend. She's my enemy from the opposing team, I thought. I gave her a death glare back. After a good five seconds we realised how childish we were being and both laughed at the same time.
A whistle was blown and the game started.
"GO JIMIN YOU CAN DO IT!" I shouted, jumping up and down.
He heard it and almost lost control of the ball because he was laughing.
Why is that funny? I'm just cheering for him.
That was when I realised that all pairs of eyes were on me, the only person who was shouting as if this was a life or death situation. What further confused me was the fact that I don't even like basketball so I had no idea why I was making such a big deal out of it.
"Tsk, the things I do for you..." I muttered under my breath as I crossed my arms.
Jimin soon regained control of the ball and did a slam dunk.
I instantly forgot about the humiliation I'd felt before and yelled, "Yes! Keep going!!!" though now other people were being just as enthusiastic.
Eventually my voice got sore from cheering for such a long time. At first Jimin kept scoring, then Baekhyun raised his game. I wasn't surprised they were the ones who kept scoring ; as captains of their teams they were expected to perform in this way. The scores kept changing, and so one second I was cheering then the next I was booing. I was exhausted by the time the game finished, almost as if I'd been involved in the game myself. But, Jimin's team had one so it was all worth it.
"Well done! You won!!" I ran up to Jimin and hugged him. He wore a red and white sleeveless shirt, with red shorts. He was panting, moving his hair to one side. I patted him on the back and we did our friendship handshake.
"Thanks. Loved your enthusiastic cheering by the way," he chuckled nudging me.
I blushed. I usually don't like being in the centre of attention.
"Hey, I was doing that for you?!" I frowned.
"Aw I know." He hugged me again, resting his head on mine, "Hoping this sweaty hug will make it up to you."
I pulled away immediately and he laughed.
---------------------------------
I waited outside the boys' changing rooms for Jimin to change back into his uniform, leaning against the wall day dreaming.
"Sorry if I took long!" Jimin came out the door looking refreshed.
"No it's okay," I smiled.
"Wow, you sound tired. better tone down the cheering next time huh?" He ruffled my hair and walked on, leaving me behind.
I soon catch up and playfully punch his arm.
"So this is how you repay me for supporting you?" I pretended to look angry and rolled my eyes.
He laughed.
"I love teasing you," he said and matched his pace with mine.
I smiled and shook my head.
It was maths next. The thought immediately brought a sigh to my lips ; the one subject I didn't feel like having.
"I don't know if I'm going to get through maths." I groaned, slumping my shoulders.
"Same... I think I'll fall asleep," Jimin closed his eyes and pretended to snore.
We both laughed as we walked down the hallway towards math class.
