CHAPTER 33: Birthday

-- 2 days later --
I woke up feeling groggy, jet lag still controlling my entire self. I checked my phone, which read 10:00.
I stared at the ceiling on the bed, sighing and closing my eyes. It's my 20th birthday today - I can't believe I'm not a teenager anymore.
I reluctantly lifted myself out of bed, checking my hair in front of the mirror before exiting my room.

I ran into Layla's room, then into
Katrina's - See if they remember what day it is today. The door to Layla's bedroom was opened, and no one was in there, so I knocked multiple times on Katrina's door. I frowned, it was early and they both seemed to be already awake.
"Just wait a minute," Katrina sounded alarmed, like she didn't want me to come in. What is she doing in there? I cheekily smiled, wondering if it was something to do with my birthday.

"Ok," I tried sounding unsure. I felt the urge to peek in, but knew I shouldn't. I heard some rustling and tape. Did they get a present for me?
"You can come in now!" I opened the door to see Layla and Katrina sitting on the floor, both beaming at me.
"Hey," I waved my hand at them, "How come you're all dressed?" I asked.
"Oh, we just felt like it." Layla laughed.
My eyes slightly widened, expecting them to mention my birthday. But they didn't.
"So, it's a special day today!" I squealed. Both Layla and Katrina looked confused.
"Why? Is it because we get to explore South Korea for the first time?" Katrina tilted her head.

"Actually, it doesn't matter," I shook my head.
"Ok!" Layla stood up, and skipped past me into the bathroom.
I couldn't help but feel a bit hurt, and at the same time puzzled. They seemed to have no clue it was my birthday. Are they just pretending or not?
"I'll go get dressed, then I'm going to check up on Jimin." The corners of my mouth shakily went up to a forced smile, hoping it didn't give it away that I was upset.

I changed into a black skirt, and an off the shoulder white top which I tucked into my skirt. For the first time in ages, I had time to do my hair so I did two French plaits on myself. This looks special than normal, so it might remind Jimin of my birthday. Hopefully.
I walked out of the dorm room, and trudged past a few other dorms.
I knocked on Jimin's door, and took a step back. A few seconds after the door opened. V was standing there, his hair messy and eyes half closed.

"Good morning," I chuckled.
"Good morning," He replied in a cute accent, ruffling his hair.
"Is Jimin there?" I pointed past him, just in case he couldn't quite understand what I was saying. I bit my lip, hoping I didn't wake them up.
"There." He replied sleepily, and opened the door wider. Jimin was sat on the couch, looking relaxed and drinking coffee, I was guessing.

His head turned to the side, and his eyes met mine. I blushed, seeing his eyes widen at my clothes. Is it that I don't dress enough normally?
I stayed outside, just in case anyone was not ready to be seen.
My fingers crossed behind my back, just anticipating whether Jimin would remember or not.
He came towards me and hugged me, warmth suddenly overwhelming my senses.
"You okay?" He said calmly, giving me his eye smile.
I nodded, slightly looking down. Please say it! That its my birthday!

However again, he did not say anything. He appeared too sleepy to wake up and remember his girlfriend's important day. My eyes drew to the ground again, feeling a rush of dissapointment. I shouldn't be like this. There must be so much going through everyone's heads right now. But I just hoped, that someone would mention about it - Even if it's a little thing.
I just hoped that someone would care enough to remember.

I decided I didn't want to be selfish, and forget about my birthday. It's not like anyone knows anyway.
"I'll just, um, tidy up my dorm room..." I trailed off, not knowing what else to say.
"Okay," Jimin winked at me. I gave him a forced smile, again.
