My eyes darted around and focused on the two squirrels that seemed to be eating some food from the ground. I inhaled the scent that they carried from a mile away, and licked my lips, feeling my wolf fur prickle against my tongue. I was in my wolf form and currently looking for a source of food to snack on.

Inching closer and closer to my prey, I made sure that my paws weren't crunching too loudly against the leaves. Eventually, once I was in close enough range, I leaped forward and used my claws to hold them to the ground. They struggled in my grip at first, but then I felt their wriggling bodies slow down and come to a halt altogether. They were dead.

Blood seeped from the marks in their fur and I saw the red liquid leak onto my claws. Leaning my head down, I licked them clean and felt content at the taste. But, I wasn't in it for the blood. Using my sharp teeth, I tore into the meaty flesh of one of the squirrels and my hunger was satisfied as I felt the raw meat go down my throat.

Perfect.

After finishing my meal, I took a short walk around the wolves' territory in my wolf form, before changing back into a human and making my way back home.

"Mum?" I called out as I pushed open the house front door. I set my key on the desk nearby and clicked shut the door. Turning back around, I stayed silent, trying to listen for a response of some sort. But nothing. Just silence.

"Mum? I'm home!" I called out again, descending further into my house. But, still no response.

Eventually deciding that she was probably grocery shopping or something, I stopped searching for her and settled on going to sleep. I was exhausted.

The ringing of my phone is what woke me up the next morning, and I groaned tiredly as I grabbed it. I squinted to try and get used to the light, and read who the missed call was from. Jessie. As I was about to unlock my phone and call her back, I saw that I received another twenty or so calls from different people. They were all part of the wolf pack, which is what caught my attention.

What could be so important?

I sat up in my bed and yawned, stretching my arms. Once I slapped myself a few times to wake myself up properly, I rang Jessie back and waited for her to answer.

"Hello? Y/N?!"

I sighed. "Dude, it's eight in the morning. What could you all possibly want?"

"Y/N! You need to meet in the woods. Like, now. It's really important."

Her voice sounded urgent, but there was a hint of... sympathy. This didn't settle well with me, so I told her that I would meet her there and hung up.

Time to find out what could possibly be wrong.

I now found myself in the woods, and I assumed mum was here too because she wasn't at home. But, wouldn't she wake me and ask me to come with her if it were important? I remained confused as I saw the wolf pack ahead and joined them. They were in their human form.

"Hey, everyone," I greeted them.

Once they heard my voice, they turned to me and I was shocked at their expressions. Some of them were crying, which was a rare thing to see with them, and others were on the verge of it. What the heck happened?
