Your POV
As much as I hate to admit it, Lauren's ex girlfriend has pretty good taste.
As we both walk inside the café, I notice how cozy and family-friendly it is; with its small booths and smiling waiters & waitresses, it's the perfect place to relax and take a break in.
"There she is," Lauren whispers in my ear, her warm breath hitting my neck and causing chills to run down my spine. She nods in the direction ahead of us, and I see two girls seated beside each other. One of them has bleach blonde hair and shiny blue eyes; the other has dark brown hair and stormy grey eyes. "She's the brunette."
Okay, I have to admit that she is pretty. Beautiful even. No wonder Lauren felt some form of attraction towards her. I mean, who wouldn't?
"Let's do this," she says, grabbing my hand in hers and leading me to the table. Meanwhile, I'm internally freaking out over the fact that my crush is holding my hand. She's actually holding my hand. This isn't a dream, I repeat, this isn't a dream.
"Lauren!" A high pitched voice brings me out of my daze. It came from the brunette's mouth. "And this must be your girlfriend!"
I smile awkwardly and both girls stare at me with fake smiles plastered on their faces. Lauren squeezes my hand for reassurance and then pulls out the chair for me to sit on.
"Thanks," I say to her with a real smile, before taking a seat in the chair. As I'm pulling it in, Lauren takes a seat beside me and opposite her ex, meanwhile I'm opposite Alex, her ex's girlfriend.
"It's nice to meet you both," I break the awkward silence that has formed.
"You too," they both say in unison before realising they spoke at the same time and looking at each other, bursting into fits of giggles. I glance at Lauren with a raised eyebrow and she just gives me a look that resembles her saying, 'See? Why do you think we broke up?'
"It's good to see you're doing well," Lauren speaks, looking at Ella who has now calmed down.
"Yeah," Ella agrees with an excited smile, grabbing Alex's hand in hers on the table and staring at her. "That's all thanks to this hottie, Alex."
I internally roll my eyes. I don't really like when people call girls 'hot' and whatnot, but even so, Lauren is much 'hotter' than Alex. And she's probably smarter, more talented and overall better than her. But I won't say anything.
"I don't know how or why you ever let this girl go, Lauren," Alex speaks up, her gaze never leaving Ella's, "but I'm glad you did."
Cue barf here.
I look to Lauren and she is smiling politely at the two lovebirds, but I can just tell by her eyes that she is sending daggers in them. That's my girl.
"So, who's your girl, Lauren?" Ella finally breaks her staring contest with her girlfriend and looks between Lauren and I. "You never introduced her."
"This is Y/N," Lauren says happily, and it elicits a smile from me because something's telling me that she isn't feigning happiness. "She's my girlfriend."
I like the sound of that.
Ella nods and looks at me, smiling but looking me up and down as if she's studying me. "Nice. And how did you two meet?"
I look to Lauren and she nods at me, a signal for me to answer. I return my stare to Ella who is awaiting my answer. "We were partners for a science project and then it just happened. I'm pretty glad for it because Lauren is an awesome girl. I don't know how you let someone like her go."
