Chapter 40

The next morning, I woke up and quickly changed Ethan's diaper and his clothes then game him a bottle since he could now hold it himself. "Aiden, I need you to get dressed and eat something please" I said walking into his room. He nodded and rolled off his bed. "Sam are you coming?" I asked. "Yeah! I'm showering now" he chuckled through the bathroom door. I went back to the kitchen and put a bagel in the toaster for Aiden. Ethan threw his bottle on the floor and was laughing, "Is this funny to you lil man?" I smirked picking it up and handing it to him. "No throwing" I said pointing at him, tapping his nose. He smiled, "here Aiden" I said putting the bagel on the table. "Whys Ethan giggling?" He asked. "Cause he's being goofy and throwing his bottle at me" I said. He laughed and Ethan threw it again. I shook my head and put it on the table away from his reach. He whined and reached for it, "No! You keep throwing it and not drinking it so no" I said. He pouted and started to cry. "Oh don't do this to me!" I said picking him up and bouncing him, singing softly. "You're okay baby." I said putting his pacifier in his mouth

"We're here for Anastasia and Annica Maloley" I said. "Same room" she said. I nodded and held Aidens hand and carried Ethan on my right side. "I sure hope they can come home today" I said in the elevator. "Me too. I miss mama and Annica" Aiden said. "They usually keep them an extra night and for them that was last night so they should send them home today" Sam said as the elevator stopped. I smiled as I knocked on the door. I heard Ana's fragile voice muffle out a "come in." I opened it and smiled once I saw Annica and Ana sitting by eachother. "I brought some clothes. I didn't know what you guys had" I said holding out the bag I packed. They smiled and thanked me. "Daddy we get to come home today!" Annica smiled happily. "Wow that's great to hear baby! We missed you guys around that place." I chuckled as she hugged my waist. I was afraid to hug back, considering her injuries. "You can hug her Nate, I'm the one you need to worry about" Ana said. "Yeah I know but I'm still being cautious babe." I told her. She smiled and held her arms up, pouting. "Aww baby" I smiled, hugging her lightly. "I thought that was it for me Nathan. I was so scared" she sobbed. "Hey hey, you had every right to be scared. Stop crying baby, it's all okay now" I said rubbing her back. She looked up at me, letting me wipe her tears. "I'm gonna change" she breathed out lightly. I nodded and handed her the bag. "Annica how about you go change after her okay?" I smiled. She nodded and hugged me again. "I missed you" she said. "I missed you too, sweetheart" she unwrapped her arms from me and went over to Aiden, "I missed you Aidennnn" she frowned hugging him. "I missed you too sis" he said. "Uncle Sammy!" She cried. "Hey angel" he laughed. "Take it slow babygirl, don't stress yourself" he told her, kneeling down to her height. "When can we have a me and you day again" she pouted. "Soon, I promise" he smiled. Ana came out of the bathroom in my joggers and a hoodie. "Annica baby, go change please." Ana said. "Okay" she smiled. She handed her the clothes we brought. "You can go whenever right?" I asked her. She nodded and sighed. "Thank god" she giggled. "Gimme my baby" she said holding her arms out. "Hi munchkin" she said, kissing Ethan's cheek making him smile instantly. "He missed his mama" I smiled. "I felt like a single parent these past few days and let me just tell you, it was not a good feeling. I don't know how people do it" I laughed. "It's not meant to be easy goofy" she laughed. "You just don't have the motherly instincts like me" she said kissing my cheek. "Shush you" I laughed. Once Annica was done, we packed up their belongings and finally left the hospital. "Can we get food please? We've eaten jello for the past two days" Ana whined. "Of course" I smiled, stopping at IHOP.

Ana's POV

Of course it took over an hour to even get our food. I just wanted to eat! Nate and I had Ethan in between us and he was being so fussy with what he wanted to eat. First he wanted pancakes now he won't eat them. "What's his problem! Nate what have you been feeding him?" I asked. "His normal!" He said. "Then how come he's fighting me" I said. "Babe your just tired and hungry and stressed. When we get home, get some sleep. I'll take care of the kids." He told me. "I guess" I sighed. "No, that's final. There's no "you guess". You need to rest baby, you've had a stressful couple of days and I know you didn't sleep because that's how you are. You were never able to sleep in hospital rooms. Think about when you had all three kids. Did you ever sleep?" He said. "Yeah I know. You're right baby" i said leaning my head back on my shoulder. "Annica you too, alright?" He said. She yawned but then nodded in response.

We got home and while Sammy helped Annica, Nate helped me and Aiden carried Ethan in. "Thank you" I smiled.  I nodded and walked upstairs with Nate to our bed. "Sleep tight babe. I'll be up here in a little while to check on you" He said kissing my forehead. I layed on our bed and sighed, "I missed my bed" I giggled. "I know baby. Get some sleep" he smirked. "I'm gonna go get Annica settled and filled the kids bellys" he said. I nodded and flipped the tv on to whatever stuck out to me.

5pm

"Babygirl, do you need any- wait your asleep aren't you" I heard Nate say out loud. "No no I'm up" I giggled. "Oh okay good. Do you need anything?" He smiled. "Drugs?" I laughed. "I gotchu babe" he smiled handing me my pain relievers. "How's Annica" I said after downing the pills. "She's fine. I just gave her the medicine and she's eating a sandwich now." He smiled. "Thank you for always taking care of us" I said. "It means a lot, to me especially. After what I've-" "don't say what you've been through. Don't talk about the past. It's the past for a reason" he said. "I'm sorry" I sighed. "It's okay baby. But you need to realize the past is done with. No need to repeat it" he smiled. I nodded and dug my head back into my pillows. "Do you want food?" He asked me. I shook my head no, "I'm just gonna go back to sleep I think." I smiled. "Okay. Sleep tight. Oh, and have a present." He smirked placing Turner next to me, who then curled up and went to sleep.

Nates POV
"Hey man," I heard Sam say in the kitchen. "Hey whatsup" I smiled. He shrugged. "Nothing honestly same old shit. How's the girls." He smiled back. "They'll be fine. How's Jules?" I asked, talking about Julianna. "She's fine. I finally proposed if you haven't heard" he said smiling. "WHAT! When dude!" I said in shock. I was so happy for him though, it was a good shock. "Last week. She said..." He looked up, "yes. She said yes dude. I'm getting married" he smirked. "I'm so fucking happy dude" I laughed while patting his back. "I need your help though! How am I suppose to do this? How did you do it?" He said. "It just happened dude. The most stressful part about it was planning it. Like picking where you want it to be, the people you want to invite, all that. It's expensive, I'm not gonna lie. But is it worth it? Hell yes. I wouldn't change it for the world. The next best thing in line would definitely be having kids. You can do this man, I believe in you. Trust me I never thought I'd be married OR have kids." I laughed lightly. "Yeah, I know. Remember that time in middle school when you said girls were gross and kids were even worse? You said you never wanted kids. Now look at you! You got three beautiful kids and they ALL have you wrapped around their fingers" he laughed. "Oh stop! They do not!" I argued. "Daddyyyyy! Can I have some Gatorade?" Annica yelled. "Sure thing babygirl!" I yelled back. "Point proven. But that's not my point. My point is, you made it. You took your view on life as a kid and made it into something you never dreamed of" he said. "I love you dude" I said, pulling him in for a hug. "I love you too brother" he said.
