I walked side by side next to Legolas, talking quietly as we walked up the path of Cadharas.

"Where were you born?" He asked.

Few knew about who I am or what I did. Or the real story at least. But I trusted Legolas so I decided to tell the truth.

"Well I was born and raised in Rivendell. Once my father died in battle I became..... Useless. We were so close and I had no reason to live. My mother tried cheering me up but to no success.

Not long after, she died of sickness. I turned away from my brothers and sisters and became a ranger. Never stayed in one place for too long. I didn't want to be attached to anyone. That way when I left, I didn't have to leave someone I loved. Also another reason why I was not married. I became friends with Aragorn because we were both rangers.

I felt free for once. I never looked back and I neve went to Rivendell until the council of course. I just never wanted to relive my past. I was always depressed and felt alone. But I didn't care. I guess I chose this life." I shrugged and looked away from his shocked face.

"Wow. That's so..... Sad. I am sorry." He said. I have him a sympathetic smile. And he flashed one back that made me blush.

I really really liked Legolas. He wasn't like the other men that proposed to me.

A small shriek snapped me out of my thoughts as I turned around and saw Elemmire catching Frodo from falling anymore down the path. Boromir was holding the ring.

"Boromir!" Aragorn called.

Boromir reluctantly gave it back to him.

Snow. It was snowing. Hard.

Elemmire, Legolas and I were the only ones that could walk on the snow which I was happy about. The others seemed so cold and helpless since the men had to carry the hobbits. I felt very sorry for them.

Eglaneth was following Legolas while Elemmire trudged behind me.

They were closest things I had to friends, even sisters, in a long long time.

Legolas ran ahead.

"There's a fell voice upon the wind!" He yelled.

"It's Saruman!" Gandalf yelled behind the group.

A lightning bolt struck the mountain and made me fall over. I barely had time to lash my hand to the side of the cliff. I was dangling for my life. I felt a hand creep to mine and pull me up. I starred into a pair of beautiful blue eyes. Legolas. I was speechless.

"Thank you." I said breathlessly. He smiles.

"I would never let you fall." He replied. I blushed even more.

"Gandalf we must turn back!" Aragorn called.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Frodo pulling Elemmire up from the side also. He pulls her into a hug and then smashed his lips onto her lips.

I was even taken by surprise at this action.

"When did this happen?" Eglaneth smirked. I chuckled to myself. She paid no attention to the question.

"What's are plan? She asked.

"The mines..." Gimli said.

"There is danger." Gandalf shakes his head.

"Balin will comfort us." He defends.

"Let the ringbearer decide. Frodo?" Gandalf muttered.

"We will go through the mines."
