Character Name: John Tommson of Lemaria

Gender: Male

Age: 22

Birthplace: Lemaria

Physical Appearance: With dark hair and eyes to match, John looks like he came straight from the gutters and back alleys of Lemaria. He is a tall and narrow boy, his angular face reflecting a sharpness that could rival even the finest castle-forged sword. John keeps his head down and his lips sealed, dark eyes often cast to the floor. Despite many knights, his body is untouched by scars or faults-the only roughness residing in calloused hands from many long hours of swordplay. He moves with a graceful and almost cautious stride, the harsher streets of Lemaria taking its toll on his posture. John's clothes are old and worn, probably the tossed away ransom of another knight long ago. A long, elegant coat with brass buttons that once shined is his pride and joy.

Personality: If you do get him to speak, you'll find his sharp eyes and arrogant words can cut you to the quick. In spite of his cautious nature, John is a very arrogant boy. He knows that being from the capitol city gives him an advantage. He's seen the tournament, and real knights all his life. John knows the ins and the outs of swordplay and the finer arts of fighting. He's clever and willing to use his knowledge against anyone who challenges his right to be the winner. However, underneath his hardened exterior, there is a much more gentlemanly figure hiding away. He is gentle when he must be, and will always treat his opponents with the respect he believes they deserve. Anyone bold or stupid enough to befriend him, will find his infrequent smiles and dark humor can light up any room.

Past: John was born in Lemaria to a loving family. His father was a well-respected merchant, and his mother was a kind and beautiful woman whom he loved more than anything else in the whole world. He would sit by her feet as a child, following her through their home like a lost puppy, and listen to her stories. At dinner, he would seat himself right beside her. She taught him everything he thought he'd ever need know. Kindness. Manners. Respect for elders. When his father went away on business trips, it was she who was his protector. She who kept the monsters away.

Until the gods saw fit to take her away.

John never got over his mother's death. Never stopped mourning. The only thing that brought any love into his life was the infant girl she left behind, a darling little angel that John adores with all his heart. The older he grew, the more estranged his relationship became with his surviving parent. He spent less and less time in their home, and more time scouring the streets of Lemaria on his own. In time, his father remarried, but John despised her with every fiber of his being. He, and he alone, seemed to be the only one who saw her for the snake she really was. Money hungry and greedy, he could see that she would drain his father of all his assets and leave them broken in the streets. And while he couldn't care less as to what happens to his father, the thought of his baby sister cold in the slums of Lemaria was too much to bear. That is why he decided to enlist in the tournament. To save his sister and give her the happy life she deserves.

Skills: John is a talented swordsman. In his younger years, his father hired a Master-at-arms to teach him the ways of swordplay. Those lessons, along with a few tricks learned from some gutter rats, make him a difficult opponent in any physical confrontation. He is also, although he'd never admit it, a very good singer. And does, in fact, enjoy serenading barmaids.

Strengths: Nerves of steel. John will never sway from his course. Never back down to a challenge. And never, ever, give up.

Weaknesses: Pride. He is an exceptionally prideful character. In his mind, he does not come from a family with little wealth and diminishing honor. In his mind, he's more powerful than the king.

Roland Delmere: Be careful, boy, or that foolish pride of yours may come at the cost of an eternal night...

♞ Sir Thomas: The Trials of Valor are not usually the place for a gutter rat. But, I am interested in seeing how you fare against the others.

Sir Adeline: Is this a joke? Well, no matter what, it shall certainly be interesting to see if you can actually fight. Good sir, I wish of you the best of luck.
