Ruins.

Chapter 9~"lost"

     5:28am, Sunday.
               ~time skip 1 year~
       I wake up to the sound of Kaiden crying. Brent offers to get up and I told him to get some more sleep since he got up last night. I walk into the room to see Kaiden standing up and trying to fall on his back. I pick him up and sit in the rocking chair. He is now a year and one month old. He had his first Christmas, a real birthday party, and is now drinking from a bottle.

     After I feed him, and get him to burp I lay him down and go back to bed.
  I wake up at about six forty-ish and see Brent walk in with a cup of coffee.
"Is that for me?" I laugh a little.
"I can bring Kaiden to your mom's before I go to work." He puts on a black hoodie and then pulls me close to him by my hips.
"I can do it-" he kisses me before I can say anything else.
"I have to go take care of Kaiden and get ready, so do you." I smile and he kisses me once more.

I bring Kaiden to my moms and head to school. As I sit in my math class, this girl pulls out my headphones and sits beside me.
"Can I help you?" I say, look at her and pause my music. Her blonde hair sits to close to her face and she wears way to much makeup.
"I heard you and Brent have been dating for awhile, I just want you to know he won't be yours for much longer." She just stares at me with a creepy smile. She touches my neck.
"So how's your son?" What the hell is wrong with this girl?
"He's great, now can I get back to my work?" She pulls her chair closer to me. The teacher looks over at us.
"So....Madeline do you want to do something tonight?" She puts her hand on my cheek.
"No, I'm busy." I put my headphones back in and ignore her.

      After schools over I go to my moms.
"Hi, honey." My mom says opening the door with Kaiden in her arms. She try's to pass him to me but he refuses. I let Kaiden stay with her for the night and head back home.

6:35.
    I walk in the house to see three candles lit along a mirror and a note:
            Go find the nerf gun I left in the bedroom. Who ever wins pays for dinner- Brent;)

I put the note down and run to my bedroom. I look for Brent around the house until he finds me first. He starts shooting me and I shoot back.
"You can do better then that!" He yells as I run past him.
"Come on!" He chases after me and I shoot him in the chest. I put my hair in a pony tail as I watch him fall to the floor.
"Very funny" i say walking over to him. I give him a hand.
"So, you're paying?" He says jokingly. I grab the keys and we drive to the restaurant.

       We sit in a booth eating our dinner.
"Have you heard from Ron?" I look at my phone that sits beside me.
"No, they may be busy with adopting-" I look to the front doors and see two policemen walk in. They walk around the large room. An officer comes to us.
"Do you happen to know a girl named Madeline?" My eyes widen and Brent looks to me and back at the officer like he's going to make up a lie.
"Why?" He mentions my mom. I immediately get up and tell him it's me. Me and Brent follow.

          I walk into my moms house and both of the officers look around the house.
"Mom!" I yell loudly. I run up the stairs and one of the officers follow me.
"I'll check the bathroom and this room" he points to my old room. I walk into my moms room.
"Mom?" I say as I open the door slightly. I look down at my arms and see blotches appear.
"Hello" I feel the pain of an arm around my neck. I scream loudly and start to hear Kaiden cry. Brent runs in and pulls the woman away. I drop to my knees and breathe heavily. I look over to see that's not just a woman, that's my mother. I get up as fast as I can and run into my old bedroom. I see Kaiden in a crib. I hug him and don't try to stop the tears.
"Madeline!" I hear her stomping into the room.
"I'm your daughter! It's me!" She holds the knife up. I set Kaiden down.
"Stop saying that kind of shit!" Brent stands in front of me. She pushes him and I tell him to bring Kaiden somewhere else. My mom charges at me and just misses my neck with the knife. She stabs me in the shoulder as I try to pry the knife from her hands. I drop my left arm and feel blood rushing down my arm. I push her to the floor and sit on her hips and hold her arms down, she drops the knife and manages to push me off of her. 

       I feel a sharp pain in my stomach and everything starts to go light and then dark.
