Chapter 23~"help"

                Friday, 3:14pm.
      It's been two weeks since we were in the hospital. We've been in New York for three days. Rosely had to go back to the hospital since she couldn't breathe. Brent, Kaiden, Parker and I sit in the hotel room waiting for the others. Arianna, and Annabelle went to a couple of stores, Ron and Rosely are waiting in the hospital to see a doctor again. Kaiden stands in front of the mirror that's on the closet door. He looks confused, unhappy.
"Mommy?" I walk over to him and sit beside him.
"Is Kaiden a girls name?" He asks me. His eyes widen as he stares at his clothes.
"Well...it can be." He looks to me.
"Can I be a she? Is that-" she stops.
"Yes of course, as long as you're happy that's all that matters." She's only five, how does she already know?
"Really? Do you mean that?" She times around and sits on my lap.
"Yes I do." She hugs me. I look at Brent, he's confused and has no idea as to what just happened. I look in the mirror. My hairs still a mess, I have a cut near my right eye, and one on my forehead. I look down at my stomach. Five weeks, I hope you'll be okay. I hear my phone ring. Brent brings it over to me.
"Hey, what's up?" I ask.
"Can you come down here? I need to talk to you." Ron asks, he sounds worried, and scared.
"Yeah of course, I'll be there soon." I hang up.
"Where ya going?" Parker asks walking into the bathroom.
"I have to go see Ron." Kaiden gets off of me and I go to kiss Brent. I put my shoes on and leave. I wait for a taxi to show up.

       I stand in the front area not knowing where to go or what to do. I look around realize there's a lady working at a desk.
"Umm...hi." I say quietly.
"What do you need?" She looks tired, dark circles under her eyes, smudged makeup, she's maybe in her forties.
"I'm here to see Ron, and Rosely." She looks up from the computer.
"Just walk up those stairs then go through the first door to your right." I nod. As I walk up the stairs I see Brent walk out of the room.
"Madeline?" He asks desperately. I run up to him. He hugs me.
"Don't leave, don't let go." He starts to cry.
"I'm here, everything's okay." After about five minutes he lets go and walks back into the room, I follow. Rosely lies on the bed unconscious, she's paler than usual.
"When we go here she started to cough blood, she then puked, and her left lung completely stopped working." I look at the monitor she's hooked up to.
"I hope she'll be okay." I say softly. He puts his hand on her shoulder.
"They're going to wait an hour to see if anything else happens. When her ribs caved in they hit both of her lungs, so surgery will have to be done." He tells me, I see his eyes well up and he tries to hide it.
"I don't know how I'm going to pay for all of this." He says quietly.
"I'll help pay." I say quickly.
"What? No you can't. What about Brent? Kaiden?" He starts to get nervous.
"I'll figure it out. I know you would do the same for me." He comes and hugs me again. He pulls away to answer his phone. I sit in the chair and look at Rosely. He can't lose her, he needs her. Ron leaves the room. A nurse comes in and checks Roselys pulse and oxygen levels.
"Are you the mother?" She asks.
"Oh no, I'm Ron's friend." I guess she didn't pay attention. She nods. He walks back into the room almost panicking. The nurse leaves.
"What happened?" I stand up.
"It was Justices parents...they...want to come down and have custody over her." He points to Rosely. He sits down.
"What? That can't happen."
"They don't want me raising her alone, especially if I find a temporary boyfriend/husband." He stands up and thinks twice about punching the wall.
"They don't even care that their kid is dead! They only care about themselves! They will not get my child." He kisses Roselys forehead.

Sunday, 6:00pm.
Rosely had to get surgery at seven am yesterday morning, she's still in the hospital. Her ribs started to push into the lunch more then it already was. The lung started bleeding. If she didn't have the surgery she wouldn't be alive. It was almost to late.

We all sit in the restaurant and wait for our food to come. I look down at my stomach.
"Five? Six weeks?" Brent asks. Kaiden sits between me and him. Rons on my left and Parker, Anna, and Arianna sit across from us.
"Once she's out of the hospital can we just go back home?" Ron asks fiddling with the napkin.
"Yeah of course, I have to start working and make sure this one stays healthy." I point to my stomach.
"Should you even be working?" Arianna asks.
"I'm going to have to, with a baby on the, Kaiden starting school, Brent's almost done university."
"Oh yeah, you guys did the exams right?" I add on. Brent and Parker nod.
"Sent them in yesterday." Parker says.
