Kaiden and Rosely play with dolls.
She's only a year old so it's a bit hard
For him to try to talk to her and understand what she wants. They do get along great. I sit on the couch next to Ron.
"Wait, what the hell is on your finger?" Ron says grabbing my hand and smiling.
"Justice, they're getting married!" He just smiles and watches the kids play. Justice have always been quiet and independent.
"And your birthday is next month! And Kaiden's birthday is in four days!"
"You're so happy, calm down." He just laughs. Brent comes behind me and hugs me.
"Awe, cute." We're like twelve year olds together.
"Oh shut up." Justice just stares at Brent.
"Hey, you okay?" I ask him in a soft voice.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Rosely gets up and sits on his lap.
"Do you still want to go out for dinner?" Justice says quietly to Ron. He just nods.
"You guys want to join us for dinner?"
"Yeah sure-" I stop to let Ron talk.
"We need to pull out snacks now though, I'm sure the kids are hungry..." He trails off walking into the kitchen.
"Buddy, go follow Ron he has treats or something." Brent says to Kaiden. He just lights up and runs over. Me and Brent talk for awhile and sit with Rosely.5:26pm.
We sit at the round table. It's a semi fancy restaurant. The waitress's are in dresses and the waiters are in black dress pants and white shirts, a lot of people around the age of twenty to thirty are here so we don't look different. There are a few elderly couples with their family's. The waitress comes up to us.
"What can I get you?" Kaiden has a big smile on his face. We all look at our menus and say what we want.We wait about twenty minutes and she brings us our food.
"Okay, so I have a brilliant idea." Ron takes a bite of his fish.
"Go on." Brent responds.
"What if we all went on a road trip? All of us, together, on the road." He paces him self and smiles.
"It would be great, but I have school- and Kaiden." Brent says trying not to sound rude.
"The summer? Mad, you'll be twenty two, Kaiden will be five. Let's just have a bit of fun." He takes a drink of his iced tea.
"Okay, I say we should do it but Ron we need to think about her to, she's only a year old until October comes. We have to make sure she stays safe, we can't be camping in the middle of now where for a month." Justice says and Rosely smiles.
"Babe, it'll be okay we can just camp for four days maybe, and then we can just go look and check out new cities we haven't been to." Ron kisses his cheek.
"Don't worry, it's good for kids to get out of the house and play outside so they grow up in that environment." Brent adds.
"Okay..." Justice stops talking. We all continue eating and talking about how this will all work out.9:00pm.
I sit up against Brent, my head on his shoulder and my arms wrapped around his waist.
"Hey love birds! Come make yourself a drink." We both get up and walk in on them kissing.
"Oh you're calling us the love birds?" I laugh.
Brent pours me a glass of wine and grabs himself a beer. We go back into the living room and sit down. Justice sits completely still and stares at the floor, emotionless.
"Hey justice, what's wrong?" Brent asks and goes to sit beside him. He just looks up with complete confusion, then his eyes widen. He starts crying and buries his face in his hands. He brings his knees up to his chest and rocks back and fourth.
"Justice, what's wrong?" Brent asks softly. He's obviously been hiding something for a long time.
"Babe, are you okay?" He walks over and stands next to him.
"Please, never....again.." He says quietly and rough.
"Justice, please tell me what's wrong." After about ten minutes he calms down.
"It was just a...memory.." He rests his head on his knees.
"Do I know? I know that there's one thing I don't know about you." Ron says and hugs him.
"It was when i came out to my family." He doesn't let go of Ron. Brent comes and sits back down.
"What happened?" He leaves the hug but keeps his hands on justices shoulders. He walks away and sits in the small blue chair. Ron sits on the floor next to him.
"I told them when I was seventeen, the day after my birthday. We went out for dinner, to the mall, and then we just went home. It was a great day so I thought the time was right. Everyone on my dads side of the family was there, and my aunts and uncles from my moms side. Anyways we were all talking, laughing just enjoying each others company. So I just told them I'm gay. I just said it out loud. Everyone stopped talking and stared at me blankly, my mom then came up and hit me. Then my dad kicked me....they told me I needed to grab my stuff and leave and never come back. I haven't seen them in about six years." He looks up at me and it's like he's trying to say sorry but the words just won't come out.
"Well I'm your family now, I love you and I always will." Ron puts his hand on justices knee.
"I love you too." He sits beside Ron and kisses him.
"Have you been abused since then, Or even before?" Brent asks worriedly.
"Yes....my dad hit me, punched me, kicked me since I was....six or seven? My mom didn't seem to care...I had such a great family." He says slowly and tries to stay calm.
"I also got hit by the kids at school. In grade eight I was caught kissing a boy and so he was left alone since he was close to everyone and said I was the one that made it happen. But for me they called me worthless, stupid, a coward for not wanting to kiss girls." He breathes heavily.
"It's in the past, you have a daughter, a husband and you have me and Brent. We'll all be your family. You are not alone and we support you completely." I say and then we all end up in a group hug.
