Narrator's POV:

Emily and Michelle lay together on Emily's bed, discussing something very serious - coming out to their parents.

"I mean, we've already done the entire team! We should really come out to them, too. Eventually they'll find out." Said Emily. Michelle sighed. "But it's so much scarier." she pouted. "I know, baby, I know." Said Emily, rubbing Michelle's shoulder.

"It has to be done, doesn't it?" Michelle said after a while. She knew it was true. "It does." Answered Emily, and both girls were terrified. They then made a plan. They would both do it in exactly three days. If one girl had a bad experience while the other girl had a good one, the girl who had the bad experience would stay at the other girls house. If they both had bad experiences, they would meet at Riverside Cafe and figure it out.

Three days later, both girls were absolutely terrified. But Emily knew she had Riley's support, and Michelle knew she had Imogen's. At least, that's what Imogen had sort of told her the night she went to the cafe. At 3:00, both girls were ready. They texted each other 'Good Luck', then called their family into the living room.

Michelle's POV:

I was so scared right now. No, not scared - terrified. Mom, dad, and Imogen all came and sat with me. I took a deep breath. "I...I have something to tell you guys." I started. "But first...you love me no matter what, right?" I asked. "Michelle, honey, of course we do. Why would you ask that? What's wrong?" My mother asked. I took another deep breath. "Well, there's something I've been h-hiding from y-you, and now I'm ready to t-tell you." My parents nodded, and Imogen gave me that creepy 'I'm-psychic-and-I-already-know-what-you're-gonna-say' look again. Seriously, what was up with that?!

"I, um...well, I kind of..." I had no idea how to say this. "Okay. Remember how I had a huge crush on Kai Garcia in seventh grade? And that thing with Hunter before we moved?" I asked. Everyone nodded. "Well, it turns out, I have a new crush now. But they're not exactly the same as my last crushes. Still funny and kind. Just not..the same gender..." I was almost crying. Imogen gave me a hug, but it took Mom and Dad a few seconds to figure it out. "So you like boys...and girls?" My dad asked. I gave a meek nod. Then they...hugged me?

"Michelle honey, we love you, no matter what." My mom said, and I sighed of relief, crying tears of joy. Then I leaned over to Imogen. "You knew, didn't you?" I whispered. She just smiled. I hope Emily's went as well as mine...

Emily's POV:

[Happening at the same time Michelle started hers]

My mom, my dad, and Riley joined me in my living room. Riley already knew what was happening, and she looked scared for me too. "So, um, I have something I...need to talk to you about." They nodded. "I...have a secret, and I'm ready to tell you. I hope you'll still love me." I was almost crying. "Emily, what could possibly make us not love you?" My mom asked. "I...I'm a lesbian."

My mother started crying, and my dad looked angry. Uh-oh. "Emily Luna Beaton, that behaviour is not accepted in this house!" He said sternly. "Oh, Philip, it's not her fault. We should have been there for her more." My mom said. She turned to me. "I promise, we will get you all the help you need." She told me, then she cried into my dad's shoulder. "I...I thought you said you'd still love me..." I squeaked out. "We do, which is why we're setting you straight! You'll mess up your whole future with this...this...thing!" My dad spit it out like poison. "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH EMILY!" Riley screamed. "YOUNG LADY, DON'T TALK TO US THAT WAY!" My father yelled back.

I ran to the front door, grabbing my pre-packed bag I hid under our front bench. It was part of me and Michelle's plan - I was just hoping I didn't have to use it. Riley ran up to me. "I wanna come with." She whispered, pulling out a bag from behind the coat rack. I guess she really was listening when I told her me and Michelle's plan. I nodded, and turned to open the door.

"Emily, don't go! You need to stay here before you hurt yourself!" My mother sobbed. I turned around. "But I've already been hurt. By you." And with that, Riley and I ran out, all the way to our local park. Then I stopped and texted Michelle.
