The 2016 Valentine's Day Special

IMPORTANT NOTE: For those of you who saw the "next chapter teaser" last chapter, that's now happening next chapter, as I forgot Valentine's Day was coming up! Also, real life and the story timeline are ALMOST in sync! I think it's safe to say that everything that's happened since the gift giving chapters took a little over two months, so this book is about a week ahead of real time! Good guess? I think so! Anyway, here's the chapter!

Emily's POV:

Michelle and I were sitting on the floor in the music room, talking. We were taking a break from rehearsals, and while most of the group had gone down to Squeeze, we had decided to come here.

"Do you remember Valentine's Day about a week ago?" I asked.

"Of course I do. Why?" She responded.

"Look, there's a painting of a snowy forest on the wall. It just reminded me of it." I said. That night had been perfect...

Michelle and I lay in her bed, me playing with the loose ends of her hair.

"Are you excited for tonight, babe?" Michelle asked.

"Of course I am, you've been telling me how amazing Valentine's Day will be all week!" I answered, smiling.

"And it will be." She assured me, pecking me on the cheek before sitting up.

"Hey!" I pouted.

"Babe, we have to get ready. Remember to wear something warm!" She reminded me, smiling.

I sighed, but went to my room to change. I decided on the same outfit I had worn the night we met at Riverside Cafe - it was definitely my cutest warm one. After laying it out on my bed, I showered, did my hair and makeup, and then got dressed.

By the time I was done, it was exactly 6:00, and my phone buzzed with a message from Michelle.

'Look in the pantry, and have fun😉😘'

What could that mean? I went to the pantry anyway, and found three bus tickets and a sticky note on a box of cereal.

'Welcome to your Valentine's Day scavenger hunt! Follow the clues to find your prize - me, Michelle! First clue: The place where we first met, even if we weren't friends just yet. Good luck!'

The place where we first met? The Next Step! I grabbed the bus tickets and put on my coat, before taking a bus down there.

Once I arrived, I saw a sticky note on the door.

'Where Eldon took you on a date, and you ended up in a panicked state'

Italiano! I got on another bus, and arrived soon after. Once I walked in, I looked around for a sticky note. Where would she put it?

"Are you Emily?" The hostess asked me. I nodded.

"Then this is for you." She handed me a sticky note, and I smiled, reading it.

'Where I told you of a Halloween night, and we enjoyed warm drinks under the moonlight'

That was obviously Riverside Cafe! After taking another bus there, and using my last bus ticket, I walked up to the counter, where a barista named Callie handed me a sticky note.

'Now the bus wouldn't be beneficial, just run like us before we became official'

We became official at that bench near here! I slowly made my way there, retracing my steps. I eventually found it, with a sticky note on it!

'Just one more clue, then you can rest! Turn around and run into the forest'

I turned around, and what do you know, there was a forest! I was a little nervous, but I trusted Michelle, so I went in. After stepping over more branches than I could count, I came to a clearing, where I finally saw Michelle. There were fairy lights hung and the snow was sparkling! Michelle sat on a blanket, with a picnic basket and radio on it, surrounded by a ton of heaters.

"Michelle, it's beautiful! But how'd you get all those heaters?" I asked.

"My dad's friend makes them, and he gave me some." She smiled, taking my hand and pulling me to the blanket. After enjoying a delicious meal of chicken, baked potatoes, and an amazing chocolate cake, she went to turn the radio on. I couldn't help but wonder what song she would play. I mean, 'Inside Out' was her and Eldon's song, and 'We Go' was Jiley's song, but what was our song?

Suddenly, 'Opposites Attract' by Juris started playing, and I smiled.

Michelle took my hand and pulled me up, putting her hands around my neck. I put mine around her waist, and my head on her shoulder, as we swayed to the music. Best Valentine's Day ever.
