The food was amazing. My ribs were cooked perfectly and practically fell off the bone! Jason had his usual steak and so did Cammi. It looked awesome, so I stole some of Jason's. It wasn't as good as it looked, it was better! Mom got a Cesar salad and it actually looked good, for a salad.
Amy walked back to our table.
"So, how was dinner?"
"Great!" We all say together. We start to laugh again, this time Amy joins in. I see mom lean over and get really excited.
"Cammi! It's Mark!" She says, quite loudly I might add.
"Hey, Mark!" Cammi stands up says. She walks over to get Mark. He's wearing a nice flannel shirt. It looks like an Eddie Bauer one, I think his jeans are American eagle. They look faded and worn, but it looks good on him. His outfit hugged his body in all the right places.
"Hey Mark, what's up?" I ask, nonchalantly.
"Sky-Walker! Not much girl! How bout you?"
"Pretty good bro, pretty good!"
"How was your guys' Christmas?" Mark asks, he loves Christmas.
"Pretty good." Mom said
"No hangovers this year?" We all start cracking up again.
"We were just talking about that! We didn't even have a party this year, so no alcohol."
"I can fix that now, you guys should come to the bar with me!" He looks eager to have them say yes.
"We only have one car though, I don't want to make Alice and Jason have to wait for us..."
"I'll take you guys home! Oh come one guys! Have some fun, we need to make up for not having a Christmas party this year!"
"You guys should go." I say. "Yeah, have fun! I can drive us home, it'll be okay." Jason smiled at mom and Cammi reassuringly.
"Are you sure?" Cammi asks. "We don't have to stay." Mom says next.
"GOOOO!" Jase and I yell at them.
"Have fun moms!" I smile and turn around to leave. Jason follows me and we start to leave.
"We love you!" I say.
"You got the keys, right? I don't wanna have to go back!" I say with a groan.
"Yep, took them from mom when she turned off the car. I didn't want her to drive home, she's always drunk when we leave."
We laughed and got in the car. I shut my door s d grabbed the aux cord again. This time I put on Spotify and figured I would skip all of the JB songs. The first song to come on was "Coming Home". We both love this song. As were pulling it of the parking lot, I crank it up. He turns on his turn signal and turns left.
"TELL THE WORLD IM COMING HOME!" Jason sounds horrible, but he still sings. It's cute, in a way.
"Let the rain, wash away, all the pain of yesterday..." I sing this and he looks at me in awe. I know I'm a good singer, I've been singing since third grade.
"I know my kingdom awaits!" Jason sounds better this time.
"And they forgive in my mistakes!" He looks at me in awe again.
We're almost home two songs later, it's dark out and the stars look beautiful. We pull into the long driveway and Jason turns off the car.
"What do you wanna do?" Jason's asks as we get out of the car.
I just start running, I don't even look back. I'm heading for the pond.
