Mum

I left around eleven o'clock to head to moms. It was a little later than I intended, so I'll probably end up staying at Cammi's. It took about twenty minutes to there since Cammi lives in town, and Colt lives in the country.

When I get to Cammi's house I park the car and get out. I walk up to the front porch in a light jog, and just open the door. I yell that I'm here; from the looks of it, everyone is still awake. Jason runs down the steps and gives me a hug. It's nice to see him, it feels like forever since I have seen him. It feels like eternity since I've seen my mom or Cammi. I have missed everyone so much and I never noticed what was missing until it was staring right in front of me.

Cammi and mom were walking into the dining room, where I was, and waiting to give me a hug. I went straight to my mom and hugged her tighter than I've ever hugged anyone. She started crying, and I held back tears. I pulled away from her and hugged Cam.

"I missed you guys." I tell them all.

"I missed you more, you shithead" My mom tells me.

"It's been a while short stuff." Cammi smiles.

We all walk into the kitchen and Cammi gets us all Coke's to drink. I open mine first, and I take a drink of it; really cold. We all sit at the nook in the kitchen and start talking. Nothing in particular, just whatever comes to mind at that moment.

We all end up falling asleep on the couch; it wasn't until about four in the morning that we fell asleep watching "Elf". Around noon we all started waking up to the smell of coffee and french toast. Cammi make the best homemade french toast! I smile at mom and tell everyone good morning as I walk to the kitchen.

"Smells amazing, ma." I tell Cammi.

"Thanks, hun." She smiles and gives me a hug.

I walk to the cabinets and grab a coffee mug. It has New York City on one side, and says "NYC" on the other. I trudge my way over to the coffee maker and pour myself some. By the time I'm done putting all the sugar and vanilla creamer I want in it, it looks close to the same color of milk.

A few minutes later Jason and my mother walk into the kitchen. They each grab a coffee mug and put heaping spoons of sugar in their coffee. Mom continues to add creamer, but Jason is happy with his sugar. Ccmmi is done cooking and sets up the breakfast buffet on the table in front of all of us.

We all grab plates and dig in. Cammi's french toast is heaven; it melts in your mouth like butter on a hot day. It didn't take us long to finish all of our food.  There was almost no talking while we ate, no time with the wonderful breakfast. I Just realized this is the first time I've eaten a real breakfast; even longer since it's been with family.

"I really hate to leave guys, but Colt and I are supposed to get some stuff done today." He probably didn't get all of the food put away.

"Aww, its okay, baby girl." Cammi says.

"Yeah, hun, don't worry about." Mom tells me.

"Are you guys sure?" I'm still a little unsure about leaving yet.

"You're fine!" They both laugh.

I laugh and stand up. They follow me as I walk towards the front door. I slip my shoes on and give everyone hugs. We say our goodbyes, and I head to my car. I know they're all standing at the door watching me as I leave. Once I get in my car I look at them. I smile, and wave to them as I drive off. I can't help but smile. I have a pretty fucked up life, but I love it all; blood or not.
