I woke up when the Jeep shut off. We were packed in the long driveway of another country house. It's Colts house, right on the outskirts of town. Close enough that he can walk into town but far enough away that he doesn't have to deal with neighbors or noise. The only people that ever buckle in the car, are the people in the front. Just because it's easier to be seen in the front seat. Korbin and Jason unbuckle and open their doors. Annie hops up and start doing her pug snort. I look at James and he smiles. Chloe gets out of the car and James kisses me before we do too.
I scoot over to the door when James gets out and hops out of the Jeep. I pick up Annie and hold her as we walk to the back of the car. Dani is getting her stuff and hands Christina is one of her bags. James grabs my Nike bag and Annie's dog food again. I set Annie down and let her run around the huge yard and go potty. While she's doing her thing, I put my backpack on and grab her dog bowls before she's standing at my feet again.
James closes the trunk and we start walking to the front door. Chloe is waiting there, talking to Colt and holding the door for us. We walk inside and Annie runs straight to where Jason is sitting on the couch. Christina and Dani are sitting on a love seat, Korbin is sitting in the chair. He already has the footrest up and the huge flatscreen remote in his hand. Jason kicks his Jordan's off and lays down with Annie. Dani and Christina are talking about ice cream and Dani is looking it up on her phone.
Colt comes over and gives me a hug and takes the dog bowls from me and dog food from James. He walks into the big laundry room and puts some food into one bowl and set the bag down. He walks over to the sink with the other bowl and fills it up. Colt sets the water bowl by the food and Annie is already eating her dog food.
"Come on, you can put your stuff in your room. We have five bedrooms total and four aren't being used. I figure Jason or James can crash in mine with me, Chloe and you can share a room, or James I guess." He has to stop and laugh, it's kind of forced, but it's a laugh. I smile and he starts talking again.
"Matt and Emmy are on their way. I figure they'll share a room. I guess we'll find out who's staying in what room tonight. Everyone still has to go get their clothes. None of us have showered or changed in at least two days." We start cracking up after Colt says this.
We're still laughing as we walk upstairs. Once we get to the top of the steps, James and I wait for Colt to get in front of us and follow him to the last door to the left. If we went right, there's a game room. We usually hang out there and play on the ps4. There's a seeming room in the basement and a computer room with a library downstairs.
Colt opens the door and stands there, waiting for us to walk in. I've never been into the bedrooms, only Colts room. We hang out in there a lot, but it looks nothing like this room.
"Oh my god..." I say to myself.
James smiles and laughs at me. He wraps his arm around my waist and we walk into the room. He sets down my duffle bag by the chair and I hand him my backpack to do the same. I look around and I'm still amazed. The bed is in the middle of the room, under it is a white rug. The bed has curtains that can close, I've always loved those kinds of beds. On the right side of the room, there is a huge walk in closet. It's amazing and huge. I look to the left and there is a set of double doors. They're rustic and old looking. Really pretty actually.
I walk over and open the doors. They lead to a beautiful, rustic bathroom. It has a bathtub with the feet on it and a walk in, stone shower. The entire ceiling above the shower is where the water comes down. I love these showers, it's like standing in a warm rain storm. There are two sinks and a full length mirror a few feet from the shower. It's huge, Colts house is huge. It's also beautiful.
I walk out of the bathroom and Colt and James are still standing by the door. They both smile and start giggling at me. I know they're laughing at the look on my face. It must be pure amazement and surprise. I run over and give Colt a huge hug.
"Thank you... Dude." I say into his chest.
"Hey, anytime! You got it dude!" He replies, I can hear the smile in his voice and the laugh in his throat.
He smells like weed... And Doritos. I let go of him and smile. I go back over to James and he grabs my hand as we walk out of the bedroom. Colt walks down the stairs first and we follow him. James is still holding my hand when we walk into the living room and sit on the other love seat and watch "impractical jokers". It's about ten oh clock at night and were all tired. It's been a long day and I don't even remember most of it, just the morning...
I squeeze my eyes shut and the only thing I can see is the shattered glass. James puts his arm around my shoulders and I put my face in his neck. I fall asleep for a while but I wake up to Colt yelling about ice cream and Doritos, and the smell of weed.
"What the hell?" I yell confused.
Everyone is high as fuck, even Korbin. That's what shows me it's been a long day. Korbin never smokes, not even my stuff. I stand up and, with much attitude, take the joint out of his mouth. He just lit it, now it's mine. I take a toke and do my smoke rings. Exactly three perfect rings. They all look impressed, as they usually do when I make smoke rings.
"Dayum!" They all say in unison.
"You were good, but wow. Like now, you're even better babe!" James says.
He's totally stoned. Colt laughs and then immediately stops. He wants something. No, he needs something. He runs to the kitchen and grabs Doritos. He walks back into the living room and throws a bag at Dani, James and Jason.
"Take your chips, and get into the Colts moms van! We're going on a midnight DQ run bitches!" I say.
As I say it, smoke flows out of my mouth. It looks pretty cool actually. Now time for ice cream. We all run out the door and get in the van. Colt throws me the keys. I guess I'm driving. I turn the van on and take another toke of my joint.
"We're going on an adventure!" Korbin yells!
"Yep buddy, we're going on a damn adventure!" I say with a smile.
The first real smile I've had all day...
