Following his mild panic attack at the show in Toronto, Shawn's parents weren't sure if Shawn was ready to pursue his music. However, Andrew really pushed them to push Shawn into taking the leap. "It's now or never," he'd explained, "opportunities like this don't come around everyday."

That's how, with the encouragement of Ian and the rest of his friends, Shawn found himself in his last two weeks of school- ever. Sure, some kids would be looking on in envy that Shawn had this opportunity to leave school so early... but in all honesty, Shawn was afraid to leave- no, he was terrified.

His next week and a half passed in a blur. Paperwork had to be filled, a tutor had to be found and meetings after meetings after meetings had to be attended.

Prom had completely slipped Shawn's mind until Ian brought it up on Shawn's third to last day of school.

"You're still on for Prom, right Shawn?"

Shawn flinched, forgetting there were other things he needed to do before leaving.

"Yeah, of course, wouldn't miss it," Shawn replied, weakly smiling.

The pressure of everything was starting to get to Shawn. He couldn't quite comprehend that he was soon to leave school forever, away from the normality of his friends and the familiar routine he'd learnt over the years.

"Shawn?" Ian's voice again pulled him out of his thoughts.

"Huh?"

"We asked if you're coming to Brian's pre prom," Ian repeated, eying Shawn suspiciously.

"Oh, uh, yep," he replied, biting his lip.

"You on drugs or something Mendes?" Brain asked jokingly, referring to Shawn's off behaviour.

Shawn tried to laugh the comment off, but his laugh came out funny.

Pushing his chair back, Shawn left his untouched food at the table and exited the cafeteria, much to the confusion of his friends. He headed straight for the music room, the one place he could just be alone and gather his thoughts.

As he searched his pocket for a guitar pick he knew he'd left in these jeans, he instead pulled out a parking receipt.

Looking at the date, Shawn realised it was from the day he tripped into the captivating green eyed girl. Just another something to add to his already cluttered mind.

Sighing, Shawn grabbed a guitar, sat down and began to let his frustrations out.

Over the next couple of days, Shawn focused on prom, making sure he had a suit hired and a corsage sorted.

When Friday lunch rolled around, Shawn became awfully quiet. He still wasn't 100% sure that he wanted to leave school. His parents and his friends (even Lyall!) pushed him to take the 'once in a life time' opportunity. Even with all the support, Shawn wasn't certain he wanted the fame and drama that could come with the job. However, he wanted to please everyone, so he agreed, causing him to be eating his last lunch on the school grounds- on any school grounds.

Shawn's friends were worried about Shawn's quietness, but after the Wednesday antics they didn't push it.

Shawn sat there, silently picking at his food, while his friends joked and gossiped about the day and the upcoming prom.

That afternoon, Ian followed Shawn to his car, set on brightening Shawn's mood so he wouldn't be a downer on prom night.

"Aye Shawn!" He called as Shawn began to climb into it.
