Misunderstood

"(Y/N)! You know you are going to have to get into a relationship some time, right?" You had one of those obnoxious friends who always pester you about your lonely life, in which you spend digging into books or on the internet. You were quite happy with that lifestyle.

"Who says I had to be in one?" Came your reply. Your friend blew out a frustrated breath. They rubbed the bridge of their nose before going back to explaining to you how you always spend your free time on the internet when there are so much going on in the real world that you are missing. You shrugged it off and went your way, which so happens to be in a coffee shop. With a laptop case hoisted over your shoulder, you could already feel the insurgence of the internet try to grab onto your fingertips. You had a smile grace your lips as you enter the mystique cafe. The smell of coffee and pastries filled your lungs with a warm welcome.

Your head turned from side to side, inspecting the place to spectate. You did not want to bother anyone in the building, and it seemed as if there were a lot of people in there so you took a seat in the corner of the little shop, a smile gracefully placed on your face. You grabbed your laptop from your bag and began to surf the web after connecting. The internet is such an amazing thing and it was very fascinating to you how the internet worked, connecting several hundred thousand computers to each other. It was like everything was a computer. No one ever knows what's behind the screen on the other side.

A few minutes into this endeavor and you began to feel a rumbling in your stomach. Your hands stopped whatever they were doing on the keyboard and you looked up. Your eyes darted around the room. It looked like you were there for a long time because you did not recognize these people from when you first came into the restaurant. Getting up from your spot, you went over to the clerk to place your order.

"How may I help you?" It was a perky clerk. That forced-on smile and the cheery attitude was none too surprising to you. You gave a small smile and began to order.

"Oh, I would like to get a honey caramel latte and an English muffin." You ended your order with another smile, in which the perky clerk returned with a small giggle.

"Alright, that will be $8.78" After paying, you wait patiently. It was not long until you got your order. You were making your way back to your table until you were bumped into someone and the latte spilled all over you and the person you bumped into. You hissed at the pain.

"Hot. Hot. Hot. Ouch!" You were constantly fanning your torso, waving your hand towards it trying to ease the burning pain there. The stranger you bumped into was a male, and a really tall one at that. He looked intimidating with the very serious look and the glasses that made him look intelligent. You felt as if he was judging you for bumping into him.

"S'rry." He said before grabbing some napkins and helping you clean up the mess that the two of you had delivered.

"It's-It's alright... I'm sorry for not watching where I was going." You bent down with some napkins in hand to sop up the spill on the floor. He nodded in understanding. After the mess was cleaned up, he went and ordered the same latte and gave it to you. Of course, you denied because you didn't want to mooch off of his money, but he quietly insisted. You thanked him and offered him a seat at your table, in which he accepted.

Once the two of you were seated, you began to strike up a conversation.

"So, this is going to be awkward and probably weird, but I'd like to get to know you. Granted, my first impression was not so great and I was a complete idiot. Sorry you had to help clean up my mess. Do you have any siblings? A family? A pet? Do you like animals at all? What's your favorite color?" On and on and on you went. There was no end to your questions, though in your defense, you wanted to have an actual conversation with the man. However, he had a lot on his mind that he did not notice you were speaking.

A few moments later, your fingers were in front of his face, snapping away.

"Excuse me. Sir, I didn't get your name. It's so rude of me. Please wake up." He snapped out of it after you finished and cleared his throat. He looked at you for a split second before giving a small reply.

"B'rwald." You smiled. At least you got him to say something at the least. He was taken aback at your attitude towards him, so he began to speak up a little more than he usually would, but it was barely noticeable.

Towards the end of the day, so many words and information was spread about between the two of you, and you had a lot of fun. In fact, so much fun that you did not know you were starting to develop some sort of feelings for him. It was close to the shop being closed for the day that he popped the question.

"Why ar'n't you 'fraid of me?" You blinked a few times to get what he was trying to say, but eventually gave a small smile.

"I was never afraid of people, just the things some do. You had that look that you could do something awfully terrible to someone like me, but looks can be deceiving. When we bumped into each other, I thought you were going to yell at me, but in a turn of event, you began to clean up my coffee spills. I find that charming, and I had no reason to be afraid of you from there. In the hours that we spent together here, I would have to say this was the best thing I have ever experienced." A blush formed on both of your faces. What a good day to be alive.

The both of you stood up from your seats to get ready to leave. As the two of you were heading out the door, Berwald gently took hold of your elbow. You turned to face him, giving him a questioning look.

"Y'u amaze me. W'uld you l'ke to go out w'th me?"

With his blushing face and the blossoming friendship you two shared, it was very hard to say no.
