Chapter 22: Stop Blushing You Look Stupid

I waited at the coffee shop where Himchan said he would meet me. I brought a gift of mochi and wrapped it up nicely. But I know that no amount of dessert would make this situation any better.

I saw him coming up to the door and stood up when he entered.

"Jieun." He smiled and pulled me into a tight hug.

"Hi. I brought something for you." I handed him the small gift and he handed me one as well. I didn't expect him to bring me something.

"Go ahead take it. I won't be able to give you a Christmas gift on the day of Christmas so here's your gift now."

"Thank you so much. How much time do you have before you leave?"

"Not a lot. I'm on my way to the airport but I had my driver stop here really quick."

"We only have a few minutes then. Last night I was trying to tell you---"

"Yeah I know. Our last few minutes together. Can you believe I'm visiting Harvard? When I graduate in Seoul, it's my dream to go to Harvard to get my Master's. At least it snows there. I would've been sad if I didn't get to see any snow during Christmas. I also think we're going to visit New York for a day or two. I haven't seen the Statue of Liberty yet. There's only 6 other students going on this trip and I'm not so close with them so hopefully we can become more friendly on the plane or else the entire trip would be awkward."

Himchan had so much to say, it didn't give me a chance to talk. I was waiting for him to finish his sentence, but when he did, he skipped right on to his next topic. Ok I'm just gonna cut him off. 

"Himchan, you're going to be gone for an entire month so---"

"Yeah I know. Even though it's winter break, I'm going to be doing so much work. They said we may even get to be a lawyer's assistant during a trial. I won't have any free time at all during the holidays. I---"

"Sir, it's time to leave." A man who I recognized to be Himchan's driver came into the cafe and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Wait! No not yet." I didn't even get to say what I needed to say.

"Aw I know Jieun, it's ok. Don't be sad. Just look forward to when I come back. I'll miss you and I'll try to text and call everyday." He gave me one last hug and a kiss on my cheek that lingered for a few seconds until be pulled away. "Goodbye."

I didn't get to tell him. My conscience hurts and this guilt won't go away.

Nothing could made me feel worse right now.

"Jieun."

Oh no. I was wrong. There was one thing that could make me feel worse.

I gathered up my belongings on the bench and tried to walk away.

"Don't you think we need to talk?" Yongguk held my hand and halted me from walking.

"The last time we tried to talk you ended up kissing me."

When I said that I could see him slightly blushing. "Yah! Stop that."

"What?" He snapped and frowned.

"Stop blushing you look stupid."

"You're blind. I wasn't blushing. Psh, stupid."

"If you're just going to insult me, I don't have to stand here and listen to what you have to say." I stomped away, but then turned around and pointed my finger at him. "And you are blushing. And you're the one who's stupid."
