Chapter 27: Some
A/n* If you are familiar with the song "Some" by Junggigo & Soyu, you know that 'some' refers to the relationship between a guy and a girl who are more than friends, but not actually/ officially a couple.
The new year had just passed and classes have started again for the new semester. The first week of school has flown by and it was already Friday night. This time, our dance team was asked to perform during the basketball's half-time show. The basketball arena was quickly filling up with people from our school sporting our school colors: blue and gold, while the opposing team's side was wearing black and green. At the end of the court, the dance team was stretching and on the court, the basketball team was doing some pre-game warm ups.
I tried finding Yongguk in the group but I couldn't see him.
"Are you looking for Yongguk?" Hyosung nudged me and tried to scan the crowd.
"No, I wasn't looking for anyone in particular." I said with a smile. It was useless trying to keep things from her anyway.
Sunhwa told us that the game was gonna start soon and our members followed her to our designated spots on the bleachers.
"Hey, I was tryna look for you earlier." Yongguk grabbed my waist from behind and spun me around to face him.
"I was looking for you too." I quickly glanced down at him and saw him wearing his blue and gold basketball jersey for the first time. I had to admit he looked pretty cool, all athletic and whatnot.
"Is this the uniform that I paid for?" Yongguk reached down and touched the end of my skirt and I immediately slapped his hand away. "It looks good on you." He then started playing with the big gold bow that tied up my ponytail and sang, "Awwww sooo cuuuuute."
"You're embarrassing me. Stop." I tried to put on a really annoyed face, but he knew I was just playing around. "Shouldn't you be over there with your team? The game's about to start and you're the captain."
Some of the members from the opposing team walked by us and glared Yongguk down as they passed by. "This is a really big game tonight, you know? Those guys always beat us."
"Well good luck. I'll be cheering for you of course."
"What if you give me a kiss for good luck?" He smirked at me and I just frowned. No way was I gonna do that in front of an audience. The maximum capacity of this basketball arena was 10,000 people and I wasn't going to publicly display my affection in front of 10,000 people.
"I'll give you a kiss if you guys win the game."
"You're so stubborn. You know our school has never won against theirs, right?"
"Well I guess that's just more of an incentive for you to win." I've always liked having the upper hand.
---------
There were 3 minutes left in the first half and our team hasn't scored a single point, while the other team had already scored several.
"Our team fucking sucks." Hyosung threw her cheering pompom down and crossed her arms like a little kid.
"They're trying their best." I mumbled while I kept my eyes on Yongguk. He was dripping in sweat and you could tell he was really frustrated because every time he tried to shoot the basketball, someone in a black and green jersey would block his throw.
A loud buzz took me by shock but it also meant that the first half was over. The black and green dance team came out to do their half-time performance first while the basketball players headed to the locker room. I saw that Yongguk punched the wall on his way out and his teammate tried to calm him down. It must be hard being the captain.
