Both Felix and Grace was ready once the trolly dropped them off at the top of the mountain.

"You ready to lose?" Felix squealed. He strapped on his blue goggles, fixed his coat, and wiggled his feet in his skis.

"Are you in that much of a hurry to get your butt handed to you?" Grace smirked and turned to face the mountain side.

Felix gritted his teeth and faced the mountain side as well. White. That's all there was; white blankets of packed snow, snow frosted over trees and the slope, some white clothing wrapped around people.

Felix turned his attention to the neon sign, waiting for it to say go in green letters instead of a stop in red. Time ticked by so slowly, molasses would win.

Then the sign flipped to a green go. Both Felix and Grace evenly bolted down the slope. For a spilt second, Felix forgot about the bet. He just wanted to rip through the snow below him and fly in the chilly air. He was enjoying himself, taking in the moment of opportunity, but that changed when Grace took the lead.

He was shocked, witnessing his best friend pulling ahead of him easily. He bent his knees and tucked in his arms. He pulled close on her tail; watching her rosy hair fly behind her like a flag, her stance and speed, he was surprised.

'Been taking lessons, I see?' He thought to himself.

He was so focused on watching Grace that he didn't see the tree running up to close line him. He flew backwards, landing on his back and knocking the air out of him.

His black hair freckled with spots of white, his grayish blue eyes lost hope, and his body was in pain. He laid in the snow like a starfish, outstretched and limp. He gazed up at the light blue sky wondering if it was always like that.

He lifted his head to look down the slope. Grace was at the bottom; jumping up and down in victory, almost falling because one of her skis was packed in the snow. He sighed in defeat, picking himself up, and dusting of the sticky snow that hugged him.

"Looks like I'll be shopping with Grace for the rest of the school year." He grumbled.

He turned to look at the tree that caused his lost. He glared at it like it was his enemy or it was like a math problem. After gazing at the bark for a few minutes, a spark spit off and a light flame danced in the spot where Felix glared.

Felix was taking back. Not because the tree caught on fire but because he didn't think his powers was back again. He got his powers when he was seven; uncontrollable snow blizzards, weird raining forecast, unique blazing hot summer weather in the middle of winter and causing most of the ice to melt, and horrifying lightning storms. But when he turned eight, his powers disappeared.

Felix hurriedly balled a snow ball in his hands and chunked it at the tree. The fire hissed and dispersed.

"There you are Felix," Alexander barked from behind him. "It's unlike you to skip class."

Felix ignored his statement, hoping he didn't see the tree on fire. He pulled his ski out from the snow and glided down the slope to met up with Grace.

"Hey! Felix wait." Alexander called after him. His light brown hair flipped in the wind, revealing his smooth skin and brown eyes, his jaw was set in a way that looked menacing.

"Nope. Got to go. I have homework." Felix yelled over his shoulder. He tucked his arms and curled tighter within himself.

"Ha, I win. Now you have to go...hey!" Grace didn't finish because Felix grasped her arm and lunged her towards the front office.

"What's going on Felix?" Grace wined. She pulled her arm away from her friend to skeptically watch him. Felix asked Mr Mopey for his bag and how much to pay for the ski trip, but it was on the house.

"I need to go. You coming?"

"Tell me why first." She crossed her arms and pouted.

Felix liked the way she didn't it too. She rested on one leg while the other one was keeping her straight up, her body looked ridged, her expression seemed crude. Normally, it got him too. He would spill the beans and tell her everything, but now wasn't the right time.

"I'm going. With or without you. I'll keep to my promise and go shopping with you tomorrow after school." He said truthfully.

He grabbed his black book bag, surrendered his skis and goggles, and took off out the front door. He didn't look back either.
