The cold air nipped his cheeks and nose angrily as he bolted down the sidewalk towards Grace's house. The black trench coat he borrowed from his grandpa when he was younger flapped behind him like a flag. His black shinny shoes clapped on the asphalt and rang in his ears while his rapid heartbeat challenged to be louder.

Felix saw Grace's house pop up around the corner and he slowed his pace. He panted and was sweating a little bit but that didn't matter to him, what did was whether or not Grace would be mad.

Why?

Because he was thrity thousand years late! Just kidding! He was only twenty minutes late. But it wasn't his fault, his grandparents took pictures longer than normal. And found out about Noah. Long story short; they negotiated about keeping the deer until he was older enough to be let go, and yeah, the deer was male, Felix's grandpa confirmed it.

Felix cleared his clouded thoughts as he sighed, walking up to the front door. He exhaled, foggy clouds coiling and twisting as he knocked on the door. He hurriedly raked his fingers through his neatly combed back, flattened hair.

Samuel opened the door and a bright smile spread across his face. His maroon hair cupped his ears and tickled his neck while his brown eyes shined delightfully. "Hey kiddo. Come on in, you know my parents want to take some pictures."

Felix sighed and accepted that fact. He took his trench coat off and hanged it on the coat hanger, tiny flakes glided to the wooden floor.

"May I ask you something Sam?"

"Yeah."

"Will you be driving us to the dance?"

"Yeah."

Felix opened his mouth to ask what high school was like but never got the chance, Grace elegantly glided down the stairs in her denim blue dress. To Felix, she was twice as beautiful as she was yesterday. Her rosy red hair was half braided before curls took over, her blue eyes haloed light makeup. He couldn't take his grayish blue eyes off of her. Samuel had to elbow him to snap him out of his daydream.

"You look radiantly beautiful." Felix said, meeting her halfway to the bottom of the stairs while holding out his hand to her.

"Not bad yourself." She replied. She wanted to wink but she didn't want to start anything with her brother. Instead, she took Felix's hand and flinched when a flash went off.

"Oh gosh, perfect!" Grace's mother squealed happily. She had a nice Nikon camera that she kept from college. She took as many pictures as she wanted.

Grace blushed, causing Felix to blush, which caused Samuel curiosity. An endless loop of emotions. Blah, blah, blah.

Samuel dropped Grace and Felix off at the school's front doors, told them that he would be back in three hours.

"Shall we, my lady?" Felix said, smirking while flowing his hand forward like a gentleman.

"Of course, we're already fashionably late any how. Might as well." Grace said. She grabbed his hand and guided him into the school.

The halls were super creepy, like entering a horror film. None of the lights were on, nor was the noisy water fountains and heaters. The upside was that the emergency lights were on.

Felix studied it while walking by, like it was the most fascinating thing in the world. An idea jumped in his head. He tugged Grace back until she collided into his side. He pulled out his phone, unlocking it and hurriedly trying to open the camera.

Grace was confused at first, then felt stupid for almost asking what he was doing. But she didn't mind. Being a few more seconds late wouldn't hurt.

He took two pictures then turned to Grace with a smile. "I'll send you them later."

"Thanks." She took his hand again and trotted down the hall.

Felix, being the weird kid that he was, daydreamed about doing romantic crap. You know, the usual. But this time, it was different than the rest; he wasn't happy or enjoying the fantasies.

Grace pulled Felix into the gymnasium and looked around at the scenery; a huge disco ball dangled from the ceiling, three primary colors reflected off the disco ball (yellow, blue, red), there was a DJ (the math teacher), food and soda (pizza and various of other drinks), and a moose walking around. A real live MOOSE!

"Seems fun." Grace yelled over the music.

"Yeah." He said with lack of confidence.
