Liz walked down the street with a yawn, slowly making her way to Emma's house, her best friend, to start the school day.
And once again, Emma bolted out of the house with her older sister, Mila, yelling at her, Emma grabbed Liz's arm and sprinted to the school.
"I'm serious, you need to stop taking your sister's things." Liz proclaimed, pulling her frizzy blonde hair into a ponytail. Her blue eyes looked around the halls and noticed that all of the other students were as tired as her.
"Well if she wasn't too greedy and shared then I wouldn't take her stuff." Emma defended herself, fixing her short brown hair. Her gray eyes were glued to the floorboards below her shoes, lost in space.
"What are you talking about? You're going to take her stuff no matter what." Liz joked, heading to her first class.
"Yeah, you're right. So hey, want to met Taylor by the docks and get some food after school?" Emma asked, moving around a huge group of students standing in the middle of the hall.
"That sounds great! I'm in the mood for some fish and chips." Liz licked her lips, rubbed her tummy, and her stomach growled in agreement. She smiled and strided down the hall, pulling into the classroom.
"Oh yeah, I've been meaning to ask you, but I thought you hated fish?" Emma questioned, taking her seat besides her best friend.
"What?! No! I hate seafood, not fish. Duh." Elizabeth brought her nose high in the air, acting like a snob.
"Umm, Liz, fish is seafood. Where do you think fish comes from?" Emma whispered, leaning over to create a private conversation. Elizabeth took a moment for that to sink in, running the information over in her mind like dust in gears. Her surprised expression slowly melted into a disgust and horror.
"My life is over." Liz banged her head on her desk, slumping into depression and regret.
Elizabeth stayed like that all throughout the class time, pouting and mumbling curse words under her breath for only her to hear. She was like that all day until lunch, dragging her feet like she had chains on her ankles, dropping her head, lightly sobbing because of the fact that she despises seafood and yet her favorite dish was fish and chips.
"Evening chumps." Taylor cooed, sitting down by Emma.
"Hello Tay." Emma replied.
"Meh."
Both girls stared at Liz like she insulted a fangirl club in front of their faces. Taylor cocked an eyebrow at Emma to get answers and they whispered to each other for a while.
"Hello ladies, may I join you today for lunch?" Ashton Willing asked, holding his tray out in front of him.
"Of course, we don't mind." Emma called, giggling along with Taylor. They watched him take a seat by Elizabeth, a bright smile forming on his lips.
"Liz, I think I have your paper from yesterday. You dropped it in the library and I didn't have time to give it back to you."
Ashton dug in his pocket and pulled out the drawing of Liz flying in the sky being a superhero. He laid the paper down on the table so Liz could see it with her blue gaze,
"Oh, thanks." She peeped out. She crumbled the paper and shoved it in her pocket, going back to her food so she could poke it with her silverware.
"Umm, Elizabeth? Are you okay?" Hugo asked from the other side of Liz. She peered up at him, casing a dreary look in her eyes as she shrugged.
"Alright Elizabeth! That's enough, get over it! Who cares that fish is seafood. You can hate seafood all you want but if you love fish then that's fine! Stop being a bloody stick in the mud." Emma yelled at her.
Elizabeth just shrugged again, poking her food like she was hoping it would move. Yeah, she was upset about the whole food thing but now she was pondering about Mother Nature's deal she claimed for Elizabeth.
"I'm over it. It's just something else on my mind." Liz pushed her tray away and laid her chin on the table.
"Oh, well, you want to talk about it? In private?" Emma replied. Liz nodded and cracked a sad smile.
After lunch, the children went to their next class. And in no time, school was over and the kids were released from hell. Elizabeth walked behind Emma and Taylor to the docks, talking about what they were going to order. However, Hugo and Ashton asked if they could be involved in the dock visit as well; and they ended up going.
Liz walked through the doors to the restaurant just as her phone went off. She struggled to pull her phone out as the boys walked over to the table with Emma and Taylor. Elizabeth held up one finger then gazed down at the screen with a bright smirk.
"Hey Lizzy."
"Hello Jace."
