'Don't think about it, don't think about it, don't think about it!!! DON'T. THINK. ABOUT. IT.!! Stay focused, don't think about it.' Jane thought to herself, sitting down at the lunch table. She was the last one out of the gang and was held up with her teacher lecturing her about school work.

"Hey Jane!" Hannah peeped happily, pushing her light crimson hair off her shoulders so she could continue to eat her sandwich. Her brown eyes that was once glued to Jane was now focused on her food.

"Heyo." Kyle and Lucy sang in unison. They glanced at each other before laughing out loud.

"Hey, kiddo." Brianna cooed.

"Hey guys." Jane replied. She avoided eye contact with Michael, keeping her neon green eyes on the table or her food. She nibbed on her Cheetos and rarely touched her meatloaf, which in fact she hates.

"Hi Jane, how are-" Michael started, yet stopped in mid-sentence. His bright grayish green eyes studied Jane, reading her thoughts carefully. He scrunched his eyebrows together while running his hand through his black curls. "Hey Jane? Can I talk to you, in private?" Michael asked, standing up to walk out.

"Sure." She whimpered out before standing up to follow him out of the lunch room. Once the two of them were private, down an empty hallway, Michael spun on his heel and gazed down at Jane.

"So, are you going to do it?" He spat out.

"What are you talking about?" Jane said nonchalantly, looking around everywhere but where Michael's grayish green eyes were.

"You know what I'm talking about, I can read minds. Which I don't understand because earlier in class I couldn't pick up anything until lunch," Michael shook his head lightly, causing his curls to spring. "That's not the point. The point is, are you going to be in Mother Nature's program?"

Jane thought about for a moment, thinking of the long conversation she had with her family last night. Her sister was only wanting Jane's room, and somewhat supported her on the idea of the program. Her father, however, only wanted Jane to have the best education possible, even if she was in the program or not.

"I've been weighing the pros and cons." Jane murmured softly, toying with a strand of her black locks.

"That makes both of us then." Michael sighed, pressing his back against the wall, staring straight ahead at a poser of a kitten hanging on a tree branch with the saying 'hang in there'.

Jane cocked her head to the side like a puppy, frowning at him. "What does that mean?"

"Well," Michael exhaled, "apparently Mother Nature stopped at my house last night too, seeming to see that we live like a block away from each other and all. My father isn't too happy about the idea though."

Jane blinked and stared at him like he grew four heads and his skin turned purple. She took awhile for the information to actually process in her mind. Jane was absolutely in love with the idea of herself finally able to control her powers and even having a schoolmate at the program with her so that she won't be alone.

"Well, do you want to do this? Do you want to go through Mother Nature's program to be a superhero?" Jane questioned.

"I don't think I've ever wanted something so badly in my life. I want to make a difference and have people look up to me like I do with the current Superheroes. I'm going through Mother Nature's program, but if you want this you have to do it for yourself. Don't let anyone else tell you different." Michael preached.

"Yeah, you're right. I'll have to think about it a little bit longer, then give Mother Nature a call by the end of this week. For sure." Jane stated, turning around to walk back to lunch and finish her food but the bell stopped her and told her to go to class.

"Come on Jane, let's get to class." Michael ordered.

"No! I didn't finish my lunch! My food, my precious food!" She dropped down to her knees and yelled up at the ceiling. She balled her fists in a tight knot, shutting her neon green eyes to make sure she wasn't having a nightmare.

"Jane, what are you doing?" Brianna asked in a perplexed tone. As all of the rest of the student body moved around the dramatic scene, Jane and Brianna stood in the middle of the hallway like a rock in a stream.

"I missed lunch!" Jane snapped back, glaring at her friend like it was her fault. Her neon green eyes narrowed and expanded, almost going crazy.

"I know, that's why I have your bag and packed your lunch in my lunch bag. I kinda figured that you would be hungry if you missed lunch, so here. Let's get to class and later you can tell me what you and Michael talked about." Brianna ordered, surrendering her lunch bag and book bag over to Jane before walking to class.

Jane held the lunch bag like it was the most valuable thing in the world. She lolly threw her book bag over her shoulder and hugged her lunch bag to her chest as she walked to class; right behind the massive crowd of kids like she was a lone wolf.

'I have a saint as a best friend! I'm blessed.' Jane almost skipped and clicked her heels together because she was so happy. Almost.
