'Uweeh???' The sound muffles away from behind Bakaito. Usagi's head pops out from behind him. 'Tested?' She asks, completely dumbfounded, forgetting that she's actually too shy to talk.
'Yes, good question! What would we have to be tested for?!' Rinka starts. I look at her. She's really angry right now. You can hear it radiate through her every word.
Bakaito doesn't get the comotion... that dense...
Naturally Ritsu doesn't speak, but I can sense in his stance that he doesn't like the idea of being "tested" as well. I honestly don't get it myself either...
We passed all exams, we've done everything we were supposed to do, never got into trouble... then why? For the love of all shota's... Why do we have to be tested? What for?
'Yo! Yo, shota! Stop daydreaming!' I glare at him and he notices. 'You didn't think we'd let you guys pass just like this, did ya?'
Oh, we actually did, you idiot! 'Ah... uhm... ee... no.'
'Hmm?'
'No, sir.'
'Well then, what's the problem?'
What do you think you idiot! You! You're the problem...
'No- ... nothing, sir.'
'Well then, let me explain to you what you're supposed to do.'
---
'So, in short. We're just supposed to map out half of the first floor correctly, and we'll be allowed further into the labyrinth?'
Kyon looks at Bakaito and sighs, stays quiet for a second and then smirks. 'Yes, that is, if you don't die first.'
Bakaito's face turns to "thinking mode". His caramel colored dog-ears fold against his dirt-brown hair in worry. His yellowish eyes stare glass-like as he plays with the belt on his old bag. Then suddenly the 17 year old's ears perk up again, and he states:
'We, will... not... die...'
Rinka golden ears perk up when she hears her friend's statement. I look at the seventeen-year-old and see the twinkling in her browny eyes. Her dark-brown-but-still-blondish-looking short cut hair flicks before her face a little when she puts her arm around his shoulders. 'You're right.' She sighs out.
My gaze turns to Kyon, who's now looking at the two friends with a look I can't decipher. Kyon's always been an unpredictable kind of person. I certainly hope that not all "humans" are like him.
Left of me I hear Usagi chuckle. When the 11-year-old does that, it means something's gonna get out of her mouth you shouldn't take lightly. Almost like this girl has a dark side to herself, one you'd easily miss but shouldn't.
As the youngest of us, she's easily overlooked, but she isn't stupid in the least. On the contrary...
Her long, almost white looking hair falls around her porcelain made face and covers her clear blue eyes for only a second. Her snowy bunny ears that are alined against her hair downwards (just like a lion-head-bunny's ears) don't move an inch.
'Don't you dare to take us lightly, Mister Kyon. That'd be a grave mistake.'
Kyon looks up at her, only to meet the "light" Usagi's smiling face. She's back to normal, and everyone knows what just happened. But when I look back at Kyon, he looks a little pale. I don't believe he's ever seen the "dark" Usagi before, well then this is a good first encounter! He definitely deserved it!
'So that's it then?' I ask. 'We have to map out the first half of the first floor of the first stratum, don't get killed, and report back to you?' Kyon nods.
'Well then, off you go. You'll have to go to Skeiliha's arms shop first, then report back to me and I'll give you the keys to the gate.' Kyon says, waving us away with his big scarred over hands.
Once we're outside the centre's main hall I look at Ritsu. His dark eyes pierce through the centre's main street looking for the right shop.
The centre itself is one building, but it has all these kinds of smaller buildings inside of it. So the "hallways" become "streets". In those streets, are shops, homes, dormitories for the students, even an hospital, and of course, the arms-shops for the guilds.
When he turns to me I start to think. I've actually always loved Ritsu's hair-do. He has his ink-black hair tied together in a long, neat ponytail at the back of his head with a piece of leather. A single bird's feather sticks against the side of his brown hat, covering his dark eyes in shadows. It all looks just really mysterious, almost intriguing. But then again, he's also the oldest and tallest of us with his 22 years and 1 meter 83.
He then points along the street. We all look around until we find the arms shop. "Skeiliah's arms shop" The sign says.
'Seems we found the right one.' Bakaito says, and he smiles at me.
'Yeah...'
'What's wrong?'
There it is again. Bakaito's sense for the feelings of others is amazingly correct, but also really iritating if you don't want to talk.
'Nothing...'
'Oh there is something Len.' He says, and he bows down to face me directly at eye-height.
'I won't tell you!'
He smiles sadly and stands up again. Facing the shops' window he sighs and says: 'Alright then, but I won't buy you anything if you don't come with us.'
There, he hit the nail on the spot again. That's it. I don't want to go into this shop. I don't like it, don't like the seller, to be exact. She's incredibly mean to me. Always has been. She treats me like a brat, and like a girl...
And I have no clue what I've done to make her react like that. I mean, I'm never rude to anyone that's older than me... Even when they are rude to me...
If I didn't know better, I'd say she hates me, simply because I'm alive...
