〜 Author's note:

All omake take place on Earth, in the mordern time (after 2000), and are written from Len's point of view, unless noted otherwise. 〜

'Hey guys, wanna go shopping with me?'

A clearly dead-tired Rinka looks at me, and then at the woman that spoke.

It's Mei, the oldest of Ritsu's three sisters. There's Mei, Hana and Umi. All fox-ferae, just like every member of this household. Her bright orange-red ears are popped up and she's wagging her tail with excitement.

Ritsu however, is nowhere to be found in the room.

'Hmmh... Don't feel like it.' I say honestly to the woman. Annoyed she turns around on her feet and leaves the room.

'Well, you've made her angry, again. Good job!' Usagi states at me with glare.

'It's just too warm, OK?!' I snap back at her and leave for my own room.

Don't get me wrong. I'm really grateful of Ritsu's mum for allowing us to stay here for the summer, but I can't stand the Japanese summer.

It's far too warm in Asia, too warm to even think normally, let alone go shopping!

But that's not the only problem.

We're surrounded my "normal" people. Last time I went out, there was this group of man that actually though I was cosplaying.

They took all kinds of weird pictures of me, calling me a "neko" or something.

I don't think they knew I wasn't a girl at all.

I hate going around town showing off my ears and tail. You can kinda say I'm embarrassed to show them...

I know it's silly, but I can't feel other than that I don't fit in with the "normal" people.

School is horrible too. Luckily we don't have to wear uniforms, otherwise it would've been even harder too hide our ears and tails.

It's already difficult now. I have wear these baggy training-suits with hood and trackers. The hood up to hide my ears who have to be bound down against my head to make sure they don't pop up when I get startled or something. It hurts.

But my tail is even worse. Every time Ritsu has to come over to my room to bind the thing against my back with bandages and tape.

That just hurts like hell.

It's the main reason I hate P.E. too. But luckily starting next year I won't have to go anymore.

A befriended doctor of the Fox-household got me a note, saying that too much energy-loss is bad for my health.

At least I don't have to do that anymore...

I lay down on my bed with my back up. This is the only bedroom in the house that has air-conditioning. Especially done for me.

When I confronted Ritsu with it he just said that a wolf is normally used to lower temperatures, because they origin from Europe.

That would explain my over-reaction to heat, anyway.

I sigh and let my tail drop down agains my legs, enjoying the cool air in the room. It's pure bliss to me, not having to worry about whether or not people are going to see I'm one of the Ferae.

At my old school they all knew. I still remember the teacher's hurting words. The beatings, bruises and broken bones.

They actually tried to set me on fire once. The thought alone has me shivering again as I try to fight the tears away. I've never been that scared in my entire life.

A soft knock on my door has me jump up. Startled I bring out a shaking:

'Yes?'

'It's me, Len-san. Tomoya.'

Tomoya is Ritsu's mum. Thanks to her I was able to transfer to Ritsu's school, and stay at their home for summer.

She has a bright personality, and is an arctic-fox-ferae. Her family, nicknamed the Fox-family has lived in Japan now for over a century.

She always addresses everyone in the household in the Japanese fashioned way, even when she speaks English.

So Len, become's Len-san. Rinka, Rinka-san. Usagi, Usagi-san, etc.

You could translate it as Mr. or Ms. in English.

'You can come in if you like, miss.'

I like Ritsu's mum. She kind, and she never fails to cheer me up when I'm down. Just like her son actually...

'Len-san, are you alright? I heard you suddenly started yelling at Usagi-san.'

I sigh deeply and she comes in closing the door behind her. She sits next to me on the bed and looks at me.

'I'm sorry...' Is all I can choke out.

'It's OK to be angry sometimes, but you cannot start yelling at your friends like that Len-san.'

I know she's right. I know it. But I cannot bring myself to "wanting" to understand it.

To me, yelling can be done at anyone. No matter in which position you are.

Friends, family, classmates, teachers, they all yell at others. They always have.

Always...to me.

And Tomoya even calls Usagi my friend. I don't get it. I don't know why my chest hurts hearing that. I don't understand.

What is the meaning of "friend"?

Of course, I could look it up in a dictionary, or even on the internet, but that doesn't make any sense.

So let me rephrase the question:

What is the TRUE meaning of "friend"?

I hope I can find out someday... and be able to call someone truly my "friend".

Someday... maybe...

~ Author's note:

This "Omake" or "Extra Chapter" -series follows a different story with the same characters used in the original Kanon-storyline.

This gives two possible "stories" to begin with. Both different and equal.

It also has a different time-frame and follows different places.

Please do not confuse the omake to be part of the original Kanon-storyline, for it is not and will never be. ~
