'Sit down, please.' Yukito gestures to two wooden chairs on the opposite side of his desk.
This room is the complete reflection of the rest of his house and shop.
Where everything normally is clearly white and tidy, this room is made of wood in different dark colors. The floor is covered with books and papers, written in a dozen different languages.
The bookshelves are completely filled with books and strange shiny stones. Piles of books next of them. It's not tidy at all.
Ritsu sits down and keeps quiet, gaze locked on the Doctor. Unreadable as ever.
Rinka on the other hand looks around the room, or at least, where there aren't so much books that she can stand and walk around. She's clearly trying to figure out the contrast between here and the rest of the house. The conflict shows of her face.
'Rinka.' Is the only thing Ritsu says, still watching Yukito unwavering. Rinka looks back and sits down sighing.
'Alright, alright... Now hurry up old man, we've got better things to worry about that an old man's stories.' She snaps at the man who sits down himself as well.
A faint smile covers his face, deepening the man's wrinkles. Ritsu notices but still refuses to speak. He just watches, observes.
There's something strange about the man in front of him. Yet he can't tell exactly what it is.
Something that scares the hell outta him. Because that makes the man in front of him as unreadable as he himself is. Unpredictable, and equally dangerous.
The doctor sighs clearly to get their attention and begins with his first question.
'What weapon does Len normally wield when you practice?'
Both Ritsu and Rinka don't know what to with the question.
'Get to your point.' Is the only thing Ritsu says.
Yukito sighs again and looks him in the eye as he states:
'I'm trying to figure out why your friend went into shock young man. If you would just answer my questions we might be able to prevent that from ever happening again. Have I made myself clear?'
His voice has suddenly become darker. Almost like he's giving orders, ones you can't refuse.
Like a guild-leader would be able to make.
Rinka answers.
'A staff.'
Her normally lionlike attitude has faded. She's submissive.
'Why doesn't he have one now?' Yukito asks, now facing Ritsu.
'We didn't have the Tsu to buy one.'
He answers.
'AND I doubt that that woman would give it to him anyway, even if we paid double.'
Rinka backs him up, growling at the thought. When Yukito eyes him Ritsu answers a short: 'Miss Skeiliah.'
The doctor starts nodding, clearly thinking the answer over.
'Do you know why he prefers to fight with a staff?' He then asks.
Both friends look at each other and then shake their heads.
'It's simple,' The doctor starts. Both stare at him and wait for him to continue, but he doesn't go on. It's like his attention is focussed on something else.
'Sir?' Yukito looks up at Rinka's sudden politeness.
'Can't you think of an answer yourselves? It's not that difficult.' Again he looks at Ritsu.
Everyone stays quiet for a long while. Ritsu doesn't move at all the entire time. His face is clouded, he's deep in thought.
When his ears suddenly pop up and he starts wagging his red-grayish tail everyone looks at him in surprise. Even Rinka's never seen the 22-year-old do that.
'His intention has never been to kill anyone or anything, isn't it?'
A bright smile covers the doctor's face as he nods to the boy in front of him encouragingly.
'Even though I know he's able to fight using swords, he never liked to fight like that.'
Rinka nods. She has seen it too. He actually hated fighting like that so much he refused to show up multiple times.
And he kept disappearing until they let him fight using a staff.
'Then why wouldn't he complain at all? He could've just told us!'
'That's because Lenny hates it when we worry about him. You should know that as well, you guys.'
The doctor looks up at the little half-bunny that limbs into the room. He seems unsurprised by her suddenly coming in.
It's the "serious" Usagi. The "dark" one that's talking.
Rinka immediately rushes over to help her get to the third chair in the room. When she's seeded she smiles up at Rinka and thanks her. Rinka sits down next to her.
The doctor smiles at her and she smiles back before continuing.
'Have you not realized at all that he didn't even say a word about the clothes she gave him to wear?'
She sounds angry, and Ritsu notices that she's disappointed in them.
And she's right.
He's starting to get disappointed in himself too. Of all people, he should have noticed. Len and him have been friends for years.
He would tell Ritsu anything and everything that happened to him, to the extent of him knowing secrets no one else would dare to speak off. Hundreds of conversations, thousands of words, and over time he had warmed up to the little boy. A place in his heart formed for him.
And he too would talk to him. Tell him about his past and about his wishes. Things he'd seen and wanted to. Naturally, not as much as the little boy. But more words passed his lips to him than for anyone else.
Anything and everything. But this he didn't tell him...
Why?
