Sorry if the characters get confusing, I'll try to just stick with what I have at the end of this chapter. I know, it's a lot. Please don't forget to vote! (I said please.)
Percy's POV
------------------------------Bob. How could I forget about Bob? He saved my life. Many, many times. And I just forgot about him. For 5 years!
"I need to get him back." I said, turning to Annabeth."We have to." Annabeth corrected, motioning to the new 7's. "This could be one of their quests." Annabeth said.
She was right. Maybe he had reformed somewhere or something...
"Gaea is rising again, that much we know. If she has any power, she'll be resurrecting her children, the Giants, first. Damasen might be reforming and might know what happened to Bob." Annabeth said.
I nodded. "You're right."
"I always am." She said, smiling.
I opened my mouth to say something but an unmistakably Ancient voice interrupted me.
Hera. Annabeth is going to freak. I thought.
Hera laughed. "You demigods did well defeating Gaea. But she will keep coming back. You need to keep fighting. Alas, if only the gods would help you next time.""What do you mean you won't help us next time?" Hazel asked
"Oh, we'll help. But we need you to stop someone in the Ancient Lands. Do know the story of Erysichthon?" Hera said.I remembered learning about it. I think Erysichthon was king of a town... I don't remember which, but anyway: One day as he was leading a group of men through the forest. He came across a sacred grove dedicated to the goddess Demeter.
He thought the wood from the trees in the grove would make a lovely dining hall and table, so the king gathered up his fellow travelers and began chopping his way through the woods. Demeter saw the king, so she disguised herself as someone named... hiccupe? Nickio? Oh, Nicippe, who I think was a nymph or something like that. She politely asked the dudes to stop their attack on her trees. The idiot Erysichthon ignored the plea and continued to cut his way through the trees. That's all I could remember, but Annabeth-obviously- knew the rest.
"When Erysichthon turned and swung his axe in the direction of Demeter, she showed him her true form, which should have instantly killed him. But instead she kept him alive and decided to punish him. The goddess condemned him to a life of hunger. The more he ate, the more food he wanted. Unable to afford the food needed to keep their son satisfied, Erysichthon's parents had no other choice but to abandon him on the streets, living the life of a beggar, starving to death and being sent to the fields of punishment." Annabeth finished, looking to Hera."Well, a few weeks ago he somehow found his way back to earth. Presumably with Gaea's help. He is hunting down the gods and Demeter for punishing him. He allied with Gaea and she is empowering him to be as powerful and immortal as us gods. We need you to stop him..." And suddenly, like a faucet being turned off, the image of Hera tricked down to nothing and she disappeared into the wind.
"Okay then... Well someone needs to go get rid of him I guess." Leo said after minuets of silence.
"How about us fourteen split up and go? Some go to Rome to hunt Erysichthon down and the rest go get Bob and Damasen. Gaea will probably be with one of them, so be prepared." Annabeth proposed."Great, but who does what?" I asked
"Clarke and I need to stick together, they're are somethings I want to teach her." Leo said.
"Okay you Clarke will go rescue Bob and Damasen. Calypso will come too. And I'll come with them, Bob will need a familiar face and someone he trusts." I said."Good... Um, Feather? Can you go with them?" Annabeth asked. She nodded and grinned.
"That's 5..." Annabeth instructed.
"And... Terice? What's your experience level?" Leo asked.
"Pretty long. I was in the 12th cohort with Jason for about 4 years and I'm pretty good around a bow." She said.
"You'll go with the other group, is that okay?" I asked, looking at her.
"Yup." She answered"We need one or two more original seven." Leo said as he glanced around the circle.
"I'll go." Hazel walked forward."Nico, Calypso, and I will stay behind. The camp needs someone to help. Besides, we are not part of the seven." Reyna said after a few minuets of whispering with Nico and Calypso.
Annabeth sighed, after some internal struggle, and then nodded."Okay. We have Leo, Percy, Clarke, Hazel, Feather, Wilson, and me getting Damasen and Bob. And that leaves, Ari, Piper, Jason, Nick, Talib, Terice, and Frank, for the other quest." Annabeth said.
"Okay. Let's go save our half-kinda/grandparents!" Clarke yelled.
