Chapter Two- Things Will Get Better

Geoffrey had just got home when I finished my lessons.

"I swear, you're such a bum, Ava.", he said as he saw me laying on the couch.

"Don't judge me. This virtual school stuff is hard work.", I replied.

Geoffrey sighed and came over to sit next to me on the couch. "If it's hard now i'd hate to see you during the real thing. You're gonna start soon."

"Ugh, don't remind me.", I said, playing my head on his shoulder. "Plus, I have to start a few days later than everyone else. Everyone's gonna think I'm new. I'm not tryna go around saying 'oh no, I'm not new. I just dropped out of school last year and finally decided I want to finish my education.'"

Geoffrey kissed me on the cheek. "Things will get better, I promise."

I looked up at him. "Pinky promise?"

He laughed. "If it makes you feel any better, cielito."

I smiled. "You know what really makes me feel better?"

Geoffrey thought for a moment. "Me?"

I gasped, pretending to be surprised. "How'd you know?"

"Hun, I make all the girls feel better."

"That's true.", I said with a halfhearted smile.

Geoffrey looked at me, sensing my worry. "Come on, smile like you mean it."

"No."

"Ava, I really hate this pissy mood you're in today."

"Well, I really hate school."

He sighed and shook his head. "Ava, don't worry about it so much. No vale la Pena." He kissed me again, this time on the lips. He smiled. "Now I know that made you feel better."

"Maybe a little."

"You still gonna act like a brat now?"

I smiled. "Boy, just shut up and kiss me."

"Well, I got the smile I was looking for so I can't argue with that.
