Chapter 38- So, This Is Goodbye ?

Alexiel woke up a few more times that night, but I was able to tolerate it. People always made a big fuss about how it was hell to have a newborn, but in all honesty, it wasn't as bad as i thought.

But, no matter how many times I told him it was okay, Geoffrey insisted on getting up with me every time.

"I just wanna make sure I'm up if you need any help.", He said, in his own defense.

This time I was sitting on the couch, feeding the baby, while he stared at us intently.

"Everything alright?", I asked him.

"Huh?...oh, yeah, Im fine."

"No, something's bothering you. What's the problem.", I said, pushing him on.

"You two are my new life...", He said quietly. He sighed and sat down. "And now I have to put you two in the public eye and-"

"Geoffrey...", I placed a hand on his arm to reassure him. "It's okay."

He shook his head slowly. "No, it's not."

I stared deep into his eyes for a minute. "Trust me. It is."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive. This is our story, our life. We gotta live it together."

He smiled at me as he looked at me in admiration. "This is exactly why I love you." He glanced over at Alexiel. "Can I hold him again?", he asked me innocently. He gave me that puppy dog look that I hadn't seen in forever.

"Of course.", I said with a smile. I gently handed him that baby and he held the him preciously. I knew his whole world was in his arms at that moment.

We spent the rest of the night letting it sink in that this was going to be our new life together.

And then I fell asleep in his arms.




*Prince Royce's POV*

"Hey, do you think you could take me to the park in a bit. Not for long. I just gotta meet someone there.", Asked Ava after she had finished getting ready.

"Yeah, sure. Who are you meeting ? If you don't mind me asking..."

She looked down for a minute. "Bryan..."

"Oh..." I still never thanked him enough for the other day. "I understand." I stopped for a moment to think before adding. "You know he really cares about you."

She nodded. "I know..."

"Like I said, you need to keep him in your life, Ava. He's a good guy. I'm surprised you didn't get with him while we were broken up."

She played with the ends of her hair for a minute. "Well, we never actually went out, but..."

She wasn't serious. I really hoped she wasn't serious. "You two...?"

"Yeah. But you can't even get mad. It's not like I was still with you at the moment."

"Fine...", I grumbled. I wasn't mad, but I could sure as hell be jealous.

I turned to Ava once I shut the car off. "Well, here you go. Where is he at ?"

She pointed over to the right. "He's supposed to be waiting over there." She started to get out of the car. "Ill be back in a bit. Keep the baby safe."

I thought for a moment. I really did owe this guy...

"Ava?"

"Yeah?"

"WE're gonna need to break up...again."


*Avadele's POV**

Bryan seemed to perk up a little when he looked up and saw me.

"Ava.", He flashed a bright smile as he got up front the bench he was sitting in to give me a hug. "Considering you just had a kid. You look healthy."


"He's a really well behaved new born.", I replied. "Now, what is it you had to tell me?"

The smile on his face faded a little. He looked down at his feet as he shuffled them. "I, uh, wanted to tell you goodbye."

"Goodbye ?"

He sighed. "I..I finally got excepted in the college I wanted to get into."

"That's great... but how far is it?"

"A few hours. So I won't be visiting often. I'm leaving later today."

"Oh...", I let myself trail off. I was really going to miss him.

"Yeah... but I also I wanted to apologize."

"For what?", I asked.

"For letting my feelings get in the way of our friendship. I know you dont feel the same way anymore ...I hope I didn't ruin anything..."

"No. Honestly, you didn't. If anyone should apologize it should be me. I led you on, I took advantage of you..."

"It's okay, Ava. Really, it is."

"So ... this is goodbye then?"

He attempted to smile again. "For now. It's goodbye for now. "

I hugged him. "Te voy a extrañar mucho. "

"Yo tambien.", He replied, his voice muffled as he hugged me back.

This was the chance. I kissed him.

Once he pulled away his face conveyed a mixture of happiness and confusion. "Why'd you do that? aren't you with Prince Royce again...?", He stuttered, wide-eyed.

"I was with him again. We just broke up.", I said calmly.

"Because of me?"

"Yes.", I replied. Guilt was visible on his face. "But only so I could do that and it wouldn't be considered cheating. That's his thanks to you.", I added quickly.

He seemed relived again. "What's he thanking me for?"

"He said for keeping me safe, for keeping me happy. Even though he was a little jealous, he really appreciates you."

He smiled. "He doesn't have to thank me. That's what friends do for friends....and their boyfriends."

I smiled back. "Thanks again, Bryan. Any girl would be lucky to have you...So, it's officially goodbye this time?"

He nodded. "Ill see you around one day."

"Yeah, see you around.", I said before we parted ways.

I started walking back to the car when I had a thought. "Wait, Bryan?"

He turned. "Yeah?"

"You're Alexiel's honorary uncle. I would've made you godfather but I think Rachel would've gotten pissed."

"Thank you, Ava." He gave another halfhearted grin before taking off again.

When I made my way back to the car, Geoffrey seemed concerned. "You're about to start crying. Why?"

"'Cause one of my best friends is leaving me.", I said, choking up. I never realized how much Bryan affected my life until now.

"It's gonna be alright, Mi Luz.", He said holding me for a minute. "Did you give him my thank-you gift ?"

I nodded. "Does that mean were back together now?", I sniffled.

"Hell yeah, it does.", He said, giving me a kiss on the forehead.

I guess this new life was gonna come with some changes.

I honestly cried while writing this. Partially Cuz it's sad and partially Cuz it's almost the end.

Sorry if the chapter was boring but I had to help Bryan out before this story ended. 2 chapters left, btw. 😓Ah, well, Avery is once again reunited.
