"Michelle. Michelle honey wake up." I was nudged over and over by my Mom.
"Yeah." I groaned.
"It's Sunday afternoon! I thought you died in your sleep!" She shouted standing next to my bed.
I was still tired and even more annoyed that my sleep was disturbed. "I will be downstairs in a minute."
She left me alone and I was very temped to roll over and fall back asleep but I forced myself on my feet. Everything was spinning and grabbed the side of my bed so I didn't trip over my own feet.
I went in the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face. The cold water felt amazing on my skin.
I walked downstairs. "Good afternoon." My dad laughed at me.
I rolled my eyes and poured a glass of milk. My hands couldn't keep still with the thought of last night. Sean's sister showing up out of the blue. How intimidating she was.
Then the date slipped into my mind. The ice cream fight. Before I knew it I was laughing to myself.
"What are you laughing at?" My mom broke my concentration.
"Oh." I screwed the cap back on the carton of milk. "Nothing." I smiled to myself.
Thankfully she let it go and went about her business.
I thought about the almost kiss. He was so close. Why didn't he kiss me?
Even worse. Why did I want to be kissed by him? Why was it bothering me so much?
"Are you going to run today?" My dad asked. "You need to keep in shape."
I groaned. "Yeah. I guess."
I went upstairs and changed into a light blue tank top and black shorts with my beat up running sneakers. A run would be good. It would clear my head which is exactly what I needed.

I jogged down the sidewalk into Briarwood County. I should have worn a jacket but I like the cold when I run. I went faster with each step I took. I the more it hurt the more I forgot about Sean.
Then I saw him.
He was walking on the other side of the street with Veronica on his arm. They were laughing about something.
Before I knew it I was on the ground. I tripped over the uneven pavement. My hands stung painfully.
I heard laugher. "You okay sweetheart?"
I looked up and saw Sean standing over me. Veronica was in the background with her arms crossed smiling.
"Fine." I growled keeping my eyes on her.
He held out a hand to help me up. I took it and he pulled me to my feet.
I wanted to rip his arm off I was so mad.
He nervously looked at Veronica then back to me. "Michelle this is my sister Veronica."
I scowled at her. "We've met."
He looked confused. "You have?"
"Yeah." She spat back. Her eyes locked on mine.
"I should go now." I felt awkward with both their eyes on me.
"But you're bleeding." He grabbed my wrist and pulled my hand closer to him. My grazed hand was in fact bloody.
"Well, I will just leave you two to it then." Veronica sang looking disgusted, then walked away.
My attention went back to Sean, still holding my wrist, examining it. "You know I really should go." I yanked my hand away from his grasp. I walked back in the direction of my house angrily.
"Michelle what's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing." I huffed.
"Sweetheart, I'm not stupid."
"Stop calling me that if you don't mean it!" I flipped out.
"I do mean it." He looked honest but I didn't want to believe him. I wanted to be mad at him. Why was that so hard?
"How did you meet my sister?" He asked.
"She came by last night for a little....chat." He turned white as a sheet as I said to words. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"I'm sorry about that. She's a little strange I know."
The wind chill made goosebumps rise on my arms. "Well she only stayed for fifteen minutes. We didn't talk much."
"Good." He sighed. Whatever he doesn't want me to know is really frightening me. He looked at my arms. "You should really go inside, you're going to catch a cold or something."
"So now you're going to let me go?" I spoke harshly.
"Yes sweetheart." He smirked. His flashing his perfectly white teeth. "Now take care of that." He pointed to my bloody hand.
"Yeah. Yeah." I waved my hand at him and went back inside my house.

The rest of the day was homework and tv. My Dad was packing for another business trip so I had the living room to myself. I was sprawled out on the couch covered in blankets when my mom came downstairs.
"So I just found out I have to go out of town for work." My mom sat down next to me and put her hand on my arm.
I gasped.
"It's only for three days." She sighed.
"That's three days. In this giant house. All by myself." I gaped at her.
"Have Natalie over after school to keep you company."
I rolled my eyes. "Now you're asking me to babysit? How long will dad be gone?"
"Until Friday." She sighed again.
I crossed my arms over my chest. I didn't want to speak to her anymore. She got up and left sensing my angry vibe.
I can't believe I was going to be alone for three days. What am I going to even do?? I'm going to be so bored!
I looked at my sore hand and thought of Sean. Not much didn't make me think of Sean anymore and it was strangely annoying yet blissful.
I curled back into the blankets and felt like I was going to fall asleep in the comfort of the warmth. My head started throbbing.
I laid down completely trying not to drift off but before I knew it I did.

"Wake up honey." My mom shook me awake.
I was still on the couch and the tv was still playing a show I didn't recognize anymore.
"Are you okay? You missed dinner." She sounded concerned.
I nodded. "Yeah I'm fine." I pulled he covers off and stood up. I almost fell over because the entire room appeared to be spinning.
"Are you sure you're okay?" My mom asked reaching to feel my forehead. I smacked her had away.
"Mom I'm fine." It came out in a growl. I lied. I wasn't fine. But I could pretend right?
"Then get to bed. You have school tomorrow."
"Yes, Mom, I know." I snapped. "Like every Monday."
She pursed her lips and didn't speak so I pushed by her and walked as normal as possible to my room.
I threw myself on my bed. Alone for three days. Maybe I could survive?
