I didn't see Sean the next day at school. It wasn't like I was looking or anything. I just happened to notice that his annoying self wasn't making an appearance. It did make me wonder a little why he wasn't there. He just ran off last night and I was mad at him. So mad at him that I cried for a while after he left. He said he would never hurt me but he's scaring me more than ever with all the secrets he keeps from me. Maybe it's better to just forg-
"Miss. Sinclair, would you like to refresh the class on the Quadratic Formula?" My Algebra 2 teacher Mrs. Oliver smiled at me innocently, putting me on the spot.
I don't remember that shit. I got a D in Algebra 1 freshman year. I completely panicked and blanked even more. "Uh. No." As soon as I said it wanted to cover my mouth. The way I said it made it sound like I had an attitude and wasn't afraid to let anyone know it.
Everyone looked at me and began snickering to each other, looking to see what Mrs. Oliver would do next.
She crossed her arms over her chest like she was challenging me in some way. Her eyes narrowed into slits. The way she was looking at me I expecting some type of nuclear explosion turning me into dust but she just turned back to the board and wrote the formula.
The class was in absolute awe. They stopped snickering and just stared at each other. I smiled to myself. It really wasn't a big deal but who knew standing up for myself would get me out of school work. See Sean, I'm not such a nice girl.
After school I decided to take Natalie back to my house for a sleepover. I didn't want to be alone anymore. About half way home I was rethinking my decision and was ready to take her home with all the talk about prom.
"When are we gonna go shopping for prom dresses?" Natalie whined tugging on the sleeve of my jacket.
I shrugged keeping both my hands firmly on the wheel. "I might just stay home."
She nearly fainted throwing her hand to her chest "W-what?! No. No. Unacceptable you are not missing the best night of our lives." She shook her head at me.
"Calm down Nat. I'm a junior I have one more year to experience the stupid dance."
She gasped. "It's not a stupid dance! It's a beautiful night to remember forever!" She was in ecstasy. I could all but see the gym floor decorated in cheesy streamers and old Christmas lights just looking at her.
I rolled my eyes and turned onto my street. "So. What did happen with you, Dallas and Sean at that party?" She asked cheerfully. She had no idea everything that happened this weekend. I was surprised that Dallas didn't tell the whole school about my drunken ass and my stupid boyfriend defending me. I mean, everyone probably thinks we are dating because of his constant defense of me.
I tightened my grip on the steering wheel. "Can we not talk about it." I made a sharp turn into , my driveway making her slide against the window.
"Jesus Michelle. I was just asking." She sounded innocent to guilt trip me but I was falling for it.
"Yeah well, next time, don't." I replied bluntly. I got out of the car slamming the door leaving my back pack and Natalie behind. She would catch up like always.
I fumbled for the keys at the front door. When I finally found the right key I realized that the door was already unlocked. I shuttered.
Stop it Michelle don't get yourself freaked out you probably forgot to lock it this morning. It's not a big deal. Breathe.
"Michelle I'm sorry!" Nat yelled after me.
I pushed the door open and walked inside. She followed me in. "You know." I put my hands up surrendering. "It's alright."
