I didn’t call her back, she was obviously more interested in Matt than me. That would be the reason I was shocked when my phone woke me up the next morning with her number on the caller id. My shock was quickly replaced with annoyance when Trisha responded to my greeting. Not exactly the voice I wanted to wake up to, it takes at least a few pots of coffee spiked with liquor and a carton of cigarettes to deal with her.
“I’ll be there in a couple hours, I’ve got business to take care of first,” I huffed in the first chance I got between her rambling. All I caught was Anna wanted to see me again and then something about Chris, I blocked the rest out after that.
The whole time I got ready she continued to talk, she never noticed I set the phone down to take a long shower, she just kept on going. I would pick the phone up periodically through getting dressed, shaving, doing my hair, brushing my teeth and eating breakfast, she never stopped talking. By the time I pulled up to the alpha’s house, I had to interrupt her telling her I was about to run in an errand, I had to let her go. As much as I hated her, I couldn’t find it in me to be rude to my cousin‘s girlfriend. Why can’t he break up with her?
I waited at Alpha Damien’s door, relieved not to smell his pregnant wife. I hated sneaking around and putting on an act. I liked his wife a lot, she was very nice, happy go lucky, and energetic, when Damien wasn’t busy bringing out the worse in her. What I loved the most was the fact she was the one person I knew that wouldn’t back down to Damien. She would yell and scream at him without a worry in the world. I am positive if he would come out and tell her what he was and changed her, she would learn to back down quickly. He should have done that years ago, before getting her pregnant, it is going to devastate her when she loses that baby. Humans are not meant to carry werewolf babies. She was his mate, there was no denying it. I don’t understand why he is so nervous. She may reject him at first, but they will always come back.
“Shit,” I cussed under my breath as Alpha Damien answered the door in his normal stained and ripped up jeans and t-shirt.
“How many times do I need to tell you I dress like this so I can shift at a seconds notice and not care about my clothes. Besides, Jade thinks I work at a factory and we can‘t afford nice things,” he finished smiling proudly at how lost he had his mate. That is so wrong in so many different ways.
“I told Trisha I had some business to take care of and I had to let her go so I could drop off my first errand. I agreed to meet up with her friend for a second date when I was done.” I complained expressing my stupidity.
“You’ll find out quick if her friend is a druggy like she is,” he laughed at my predicament while holding the door open for me to come in.
“She’s not druggy or a slut,” I grumbled walking in. “She’s actually got a head on her shoulders.”
“In that case, good job at screwing that one up. Got the papers?”
“Yeah, but I think we have a snitch in the pack,” I solemnly admitted, waiting for Damien’s short temper to blow up on me. “It seems as if Harrison’s pack is knowing when to enter our territory. The guards keep catching their fresh scents leaving out of the borders.”
“They know our routine. I want the snitch dead and on my doorstep.”
“Jade,” I asked weakly.
“Don’t worry about her, she’s got me! I want the trader dead!” He shouted with his dark eyes turning black, his body shaking, he was ready to flip. “Get out of here and pass the word. I have to go find my wife. Do you have any idea how hard it is going to be to keep her butt planted at home!” It wouldn’t be if he told her who and what he was.
