After the meeting Damien tapped Jade on the shoulders and told her to follow him. He stopped half way through the room finding one of his top guards. He whispered something in the man’s ear. Jade couldn’t hear him through the chatter in the room. She mentally cursed her size. If she only came up to his shoulders like most werewolves and not his hips, she would have heard him.
He lead her back up to their room, she stayed plastered at his side, skittish with all the new faces. He would give it one more try on his own. If this didn’t work his back up plan would. She would need to shift back to ask her million questions.
He took a deep breath, sucking in his alpha temper, as she curled back up at the head of their bed, stubbornly tucking her nose under her tail. His last attempt would have scared any new wolf into at least trying to shift back, but not her. She got so scared his threat went right over her head. The urgent need to please his order went straight out the window. “Princess, do you want to shift now?” He asked while breathing out his temper.
She nodded her head with uncertainty. She had questions that were dying to get out, but did he have to be present? Couldn’t he wait until she was dressed? He tossed the blanket over her body and head. “Just relax, stretch and fully concentrate on being human again.” He got up, leaving her be. He wouldn’t leave the room, but he would go in the closet to get her clothes. If this worked he would need her to be dressed before his back up plan got there.
He heard her howl in pain, she was shifting. He grabbed the first shirt his hands came in contact with off the hanger and ran out of the closet. “Don’t stop princess, your doing good.” He coached her along. Her long howls turned into short quiet whimpers. Her feet and hands were the first to form. Of course she would be thinking of hands and feet first. He laughed silently to himself, running his fingers through the fur on her head. Her shoulders and hips popped into place next, he almost started laughing out loud. Most would concentrate on their back and neck first and then their head. The rest of her body followed out of sequence, he wouldn’t say a thing as long as she shifted. Last but not least, her head turned back to its human form. So she shifted a little backwards, but who could complain? She shifted back. Then again, this was Jade, there was nothing normal or graceful about her.
She laid shaking and crying, but the pain was over now. He pulled the shirt over her head. “You will never feel that pain again, I promise.” He soothed, praying she wouldn’t be scared to shift again. As much as he didn’t want to at this moment, he needed to set the rules with her before she could possibly shift again. “Your wolf form at this moment, is for play. Don’t try to defend yourself in it, you’re too small. Shifting back to your human form is the biggest form of surrender. If you ever get caught in a dangerous situation, that’s I want you to do, shift back. Either me or someone else will be right behind you to defend you.” He chuckled to himself in memory of their little run. “If I pin you by your neck, I’m telling you to knock it off and if I growl and snap at you, I’m correcting you. You can always come to me for protection, but don’t ever show fear. You are the alpha female, whether you like it or not.”
“How was I supposed to know he wasn’t there to kill us,” she huffed in self defense.
“If the other wolf isn’t barring his teeth and growling at me with his hackles raised and I don’t push you behind me and copy him, there is no threat. Trust me princess, once you see an angry and threatening wolf, you will never forget what it looks like.”
“Like you were with that man downstairs?”
“Times that by ten, that was just a mere human,” he smiled lightly at her. He didn’t realize how bad that scared her. He didn’t want to think how she would react when she sees him fighting another wolf. It will only be a matter time before she does. It’s his job and eventually hers, to constantly put wolves back in there place. Thankfully, she’ll only be in charge of the females, because he will always take on the males. He needed to be honest with himself, there will be a time when she would need to put males back in their place. There will be a time she will need to fight one, hopefully she won’t get hurt too badly.
