Lori’s paws were barely able to carry her any farther as she trekked up the stairs to her room. Kane followed behind content and proud. He wore her out.

Dan passed them on the stairs, chuckling. “Did you leave dinner in the backyard again?” Kane shook his head. “Pizza delivery,” Dan said, mocking a delivery boy. Kane nodded.

Leo walked out of his room with his mate, Julie, surprisingly directly behind him. Kane instantly smelled her pregnancy and shivered in disgust.

Leo noticed Kane’s reaction and turned back around to Julie. He held her tight, taking in one big final smell of her hair. “Go take a shower,” he ordered. He gently nudged her back in the room.

Kane felt a tinge of guilt for his involuntary reaction. That was the first time in weeks Julie attempted to come out of Leo’s room. The smell may have been incredible for Leo, but for the rest of the house it stunk. “I’ll get her to come out after her shower,” Leo said, opening Kane’s door for him and Lori. “And Lori doesn’t smell the best either.”

Kane shifted and Lori went straight to the bed. Kane was positive that was where she was going to lay until morning. After he showered and got dressed he found Lori out like a light. He whispered in her ear, “shift,” then waited. Once she was in her human form, he situated her so her head was on the pillow and her body was on its left side, the way she normally slept. He covered her up, kissed her cheek, and whispered, “Good night Sweet pea.” He said she would get three days, and three days wasn’t over until morning.

Kane sat on his side of the bed, watching Lori sleep more peaceful than ever before as he dialed the doctor. “Dr. Shanoki’s office,” the secretary answered on the third ring.

“This is Kane. I need the doctor over here now.”

“Yes, Alpha, I’ll clear his schedule for the day and tell him as his patient leaves,” the secretary said in hurry.

“Thank you,” Kane said, hanging up the phone.

He slipped out of bed, running his fingers through Lori’s long, greasy hair. His fingers got caught up at the base of her head in a big massive tangle. It was going to take a lot of conditioner to get through that. He stared at the bathroom, then back at her. He picked a couple pieces of grass out her disgusting hair.

He deeply inhaled her strong scent, tasting its sweetness on the tip of his tongue. He was utterly in love with her overbearing pregnant scent. The rest of the house would hate it. “I’ll keep the door closed.”

He grabbed the first aid kit, the declarations of territories that were sent by the Keno Pack and the Coju Pack, and moseyed out of the room, heading straight to Emma’s room. He sat on the bed next to her good arm and placed the first aid kit in front of him, pulling out a band aid. He slowly pulled out the IV and placed band aid over the pin prick hole. It was down to sitting and waiting patiently for Emma to wake up and the doctor to come remove the cast from her arm.

He pulled a chair up to the bed, kicked his feet up on the bed and started reading the declarations. By the last page he was laughing hysterically. The Coju pack had the most detailed declaration. “Damien, I don’t think you left room a single loophole,” Kane said, chuckling. “You definitely had a lawyer make this up. What a waste of money.” He tossed the declaration to the floor, not even bothering to look for a pen to sign it.

Kane leaned back and closed his eyes. The doctor knocked on the door. Kane stretched and muttered, “Come in.”

“About to take a cat nap?” the doctor asked, approaching Emma.

“I don’t take cat naps, I take wolf naps,” Kane said.

Without a response to Kane’s arrogant remark, the doctor got to work. He removed the cast and examined Emma’s arm. “It’s healed,” the doctor said. He wasn’t one bit shocked; he was at Noah’s house earlier that morning.
