“Damien?” Jade whispered with uncertainty. Damien was hard at work and deep in concentration.

“You’re still awake,” he stated looking up at her smiling. “What‘s up?” He sighed after she gave him a nervous nod.

“What happened to Anna? I haven‘t seen them since they came to see Derrick.”

“Her and Andy got married, had three girls and a boy and she is a beautiful golden wolf when she wants to be. Other words, they‘re living happily ever after.” She looked down nervously sucking on her little nail. “Princess, I promise, nobody has ever died from being claimed before.”

“What if I’m not your mate?”

“Trust me, you are my mate.”

“What if this is just infatuation?”

“I spent eight years trying to chase you away with no success, I‘m absolutely positive it’s not. Even if I didn‘t put you to the test, ten years is pretty long for infatuation, don‘t you think?” He chuckled at her excuse.

He couldn’t hold off any longer, he has been holding off for years. She’s lucky she made it this far untouched, she’s lucky he didn’t jump her the second she was carried through his bedroom doors. He slowly raised from his seat as if stalking a prey.

“I hate you at times,” she stuttered seeing the hunger in his eyes growing nearer.

“I hate you too at times, but even when I hate you, I still love you.” He smirked at her, waiting for her next comment.

“You were mean to me,” he paused at her childish choice of words and then shook it off.

“Only when I have to be. That comes with from being a good Alpha, princess. I can’t always be nice.” He grabbed her arm, careful not to hurt her, but quickly pulled her up before she could protest.

“You left me,” she stated holding her stare to the floor and backing away from him.

“Only to make things better for you and our children,” he snatched the rope holding her robe together and pulling her into him. Out of instinct she looked up to him, acting the way he wanted her to, he crashed his lips into hers. She can ramble on with all her excuses for an eternity, when he was done.

He broke the kiss, allowing her to breathe as he trailed his lips down her neck. “I’m sorry,” he whispered into the crook of neck. He knew it was a sensitive spot, but he couldn’t hold off any longer. In one movement, he whipped the robe open and swept down to her chest. His lethally sharp canines elongated fast enough to bit her cleavage before she knew what was happening.

She gasped at the pain and surprise and almost tumbled backwards from the shock. His arm quickly shot up her back, holding her to him as he slowly lowered her to the couch, trying to get as much venom into her without hurting her anymore than necessary. When he couldn’t push no more in and her skin began closing around his teeth, he pulled out. He licked the wound clean, sealing his poison inside her. “The worst is over.”

“My body changing,” she retorted in a snotty tone.

“The fever will knock you out before that happens,” by the look on her face, he figured Andy didn’t include that in his story. “No more pain, I promise.” To make her fever go unnoticed, he made love to her like he has never done before until the fever took over and she passed out. He pulled her back into his chest as her body began to twist and turn.

The next morning, Damien woke up to his princess completely transformed and peacefully sleeping in a ball. Her thick black fur was full and silky, pride filled him as he brushed his fingers through her healthy coat. He chuckled satisfied as he looked over her petite frame, she could easily dart under his wolf form if need be. She was barely the size of a small timber wolf, much smaller than most pups. Hopefully in the long run, her attitude will make up for her size. Quietly, he snuck out of bed, letting her body rest. He wouldn’t be in the least shocked if she slept most of the day.
