It's not long, but I tried warning you guys through my horrible peom.

Jade dropped the book in horror, the mere thought of her children disappearing terrified her. The simple fact that Jasmine’s oldest son had the same name as her oldest son made her more uneasy. It was stupid to worry about the names being the same, but she couldn’t control her thoughts. They had the same type of personality. The only difference was the color of their fur.

Jade needed to find Damien, she needed reassure that, that would never happen to her children. She slipped through the halls almost unheard. After years of being married to Damien, his brother Aden got used to Jade’s light footsteps. Only now is he getting used to her smell of fear. Damien kept Jade protected so well from this world, she never needed to fear so much. Sure she had the normal fear of meeting his family and on her wedding day, but she never feared for her life. Damien did say when she was in the hospital with their oldest, her fear was stronger than the fear of death. No one would dare come down to see her until after the baby was born and doing well and he could see why.

Her fear was so strong smelling and so exciting that he wanted to chase her down, initiate the hunt. Not even Damien’s scent prevented him from the need embedded deep inside him. “Jade,” he needed to stay human and stop her before a weaker wolf lost control. “Calm down, what’s wrong?”

Jade jumped not hearing him walking up behind her, she twisted around with a start, feeling her body transform without control. Before she knew it, she was on all four, staring at Aden down a dark brown muzzle. Her nose wrinkled up, lips pulled up and back, showing all her teeth. Her tail tucked close to her side and stiff and her ears pinned back. All the hair on her hackles stood tall. Her fear multiplied ten fold, she was ready to fight for her life as her head and body lowered close the floor.

Stunned by this reaction, Aden shifted himself. Jade still didn’t run like he planned. The thrill of the chase was over, but the need to dominant lingered. Jade didn’t know to back down and submit, she took him as a threat. He slowly approached showing all his teeth with his head extended out and his ears perked forward. A low menacing growl told Jade to submit, but she didn’t move a muscle. Aden circled her once, twice and then let out a sharp bark. Jade didn‘t budge, but her hind legs did start to shake. She would fight for her life.

Aden raised up on his hind legs, towering over her. His sharp claws scrapped her back, her fur became wet with blood. She whimpered loudly in pain and terror. She rolled out from his next hit. Jumping up to her feet again. She tried to bit him wherever she could, but he foresaw all her moves. He bit at her legs, leaving incision holes in place of his teeth. Tuffs of brown fur littered the floor amongst the puddles of blood. Jade hit the ground after the short lived fight. Aden stood above her, his crimson red canines glistened in the soft light. In sole purpose to dominant, Aden wrapped his jaw around Jade’s neck, but he never got the chance to leave a mark. Damien came out of nowhere and knocked him away from Jade.

Damien’s scent as he jumped over Jade calmed her just enough to get out of the way. She backed into a dark corner, watching in horror as the two giant black wolves challenged each other. Both held their heads high, ears perked forward and the fur on their backs raised to the ceiling. They growled viciously at each other, never breaking their eye to eye stare. Aden snapped at Damien’s face and his miserable attempt gave Damien the time to grab Aden’s front leg. With Jade‘s hearing growing stronger by the day, she could hear his bones snap through the mixture of growls and cries. Aden’s paw hung limp, but his fight did not leave him. He continued to snap at Damien with fury than before, missing each time.

Damien was beyond furious with his brother for trying to dominant his mate. Jade was his and his alone. Not willing to end the fight quickly, he pulled Aden’s fur out by the chunks. Ignoring his mate cowering in the corner, he fought with the viciousness that is not normally necessary. But Aden was close to his size and had almost as much power as him. They fought as if they were at war with their worst enemies. Jade witnessed what most female mates will never see.
