'Jas?'
Brad broke me away from my thoughts. Did I hear him right? Was I imagining all this? Why was something that is so bad, feel so right?
'I-erm-I was never expecting you to say that' I sounded confused.
'Neither was I' he chuckled awkwardly.
'What do you mean?' I looked down.
'Well, come on Jas, I haven't seen you in 3 years.. I didn't think my feelings would be the first thing to come out of my mouth'
'I-well I erm, I-' I couldn't get my words out, I was feeling flustered. 'I-I'm gonna go now' I walked off and out the door hoping Brad was following me but at the same not.
What did I do that for?! I'm so stupid. Why couldn't I tell him I felt the same way? I don't even remember why we broke up. Okay, so I do.. But I wish that didn't happen.
I was out for about an hour just walking around away in my own thoughts when I bumped into Brad's mum and sister.
'Jas? Jas! It's really you!' His mum gave me a big hug. 'We've missed you so much! How have you been?! It's been so long!'
'Mum give the girl a chance to talk' his sister laughed.
'It's fine' I laughed back. 'I've missed you guys too! I've been good though, how are you guys? How's everything at home?'
'Yeah everything's great, how's uni going? I can't believe you're in your final year already! Time really has flown by'
'I know it's mad! I can't believe I haven't seen you in so long, I've really missed you all' I looked down.
'We've missed you too sweetie'
'Some more than others' his sister winked at me.
'Nat, behave' his mum nudged her.
'It's okay, I just erm saw Brad actually. Yepp at my house.. After 3 years..'
'Oh dear, how was it?'
'It was strange.. Yeah that's the only word I could use to describe the moment'
'Darling, I don't want you to think I'm butting in or anything but whatever happened before has happened.. If you still feel the same then what's stopping you getting back together?' I looked down again. 'Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud there'
'Mum stop embarrassing her! Don't worry Jas, you two know what you're doing, just do whatever you feel is right okay' Nat smiled at me.
'Thanks guys' I smiled back. 'I've just gone so long without hearing anything from him and then suddenly when I'm about to leave for London again he appears back in my life, I don't know what to do'
Both Anne-Marie and Nat looked confused.
'Did I say something wrong?'
'You said you hadn't heard anything from him in so long? How long?'
'3 years.. I haven't heard from him since about a month after I moved to London. It really cut deep' I felt my stomach turning.
'But.. Brad used to write to you everyday for a whole year? Did you not get any of those?' His mum was confused.
My eyes widened. 'W-what?'
'Yeah!' His sister interrupted. 'He posted them though your door every single day. Did your mum not tell you?'
'N-no? No, no she wouldn't hide that from me, she would 100% tell me. She knows how cut up I was about everything, she wouldn't just throw them away like that'
They both just looked at each other.
'Sweetie, I think you need to speak to your mum..'
'I-I-no, I need to go'
I ran off without saying anything. What they're saying can't be true, it just can't be. Brad must've told them that's what he did and didn't end up having the balls to do it. But my Brad wasn't like that.. He was never shy at expressing his feelings to me. Then again, at the same time my mum would definitely not hide that from me.. For all this time? No. She can't.
