Last Night

Today was our second last day, well basically our last full day because we leave at 4 in the afternoon tomorrow. We spent it down at the beach because we hadn't really been to the beach since we got here. Well, in the day at least. I decided to leave my laptop at the hotel today and have a day off so I could enjoy what was left of the holiday.

There were people playing volleyball in front of where we were sunbathing so I decided to join in. My team won, obviously. I went back to sunbathe with Tris, I wasn't sure where Harry or my mum were.

'So I heard someone has a soft spot for you' Tris nudged me.

'What are you on about? Who?'

'Mr Harry Richards' he winked.

'Harry?! As if Tris' I started laughing.

'I'm being serious! He told me you two got along very well last night'

'Yeah we spoke, that's it, doesn't mean we're getting married anytime soon!'

'Oh be quiet, I see the way you've been looking at him today'

'The way I've been looking at him? Stop making me laugh T'

'Oh come on! I haven't seen you this happy since.. well I haven't seen you this happy in 3 years'

'Okay now you're just being silly, I don't think of Harry in that way. I've only just met the guy! I was just there as someone he could talk to, it's nothing like that'

'Hmmm, whatever you say' Tris smirked before putting his sunglasses back on and continued sun bathing.

Uh oh, what if he's right and Harry does actually like me? I don't even like him like that, I've only just met the guy! I was just being there for him, I hope he didn't think something of it.. What do I do?

'Here you go!' Harry came over with our drinks which broke me away from my thoughts.

'Oh, thanks!'

I tried to keep my distance from Harry to avoid him thinking anything more. I put my headphones in and lay back enjoying what I had left of the sun.

'Hey Jasmine' Harry tapped me on the shoulder.

I sat up and lifted my sunglasses.

'Sorry to disturb you, I was just wondering if we could go for a walk maybe?'

Shit. 'Can we go a bit later? When it's cooler? I'm kind of enjoying the sun on me instead of walking in it' I tried to laugh without seeming awkward.

'Oh, yeah sure, no problem!'

I smiled before putting my sunglasses back on to carry on tanning.

...

It was coming up to 5 o'clock and we decided to head back to the hotel so we could shower and get changed for dinner at 7. We were going to this restaurant on the beach front which I was so excited about. As we were walking back Harry came over to me.

'Hey Jasmine, are you okay?'

'Yeah I'm fine! How are you?'

'No I meant with me, are you okay with me?'

'Oh yeah I'm fine with you! Why wouldn't I be?'

'I don't know, I just got a bit of an awkward vibe from you today. Maybe it's just me being paranoid'

I took a deep breath in. 'Okay, look.. the reason I've been a bit distant with you today is because I didn't want you to think we were anything more than just friends' I looked down.

'Oh'

'I'm sorry! I mean I do like you but as a friend..'

'I totally understand. Can I ask, where has this come from?'

'Well Tris said you kind of like me.. you know, because of our talk the other night'

He smiled. 'Look Jasmine, that talk the other night was amazing, I really got some things off my chest and I thank you for allowing me to do that! But I like you as just a friend too so don't worry'

'Oh, phew!' He gave me a look. Oh, erm, I mean not that it would have been a bad thing if you liked me of course! I just didn't want things to get awkward between us because I think you're a decent guy'

'Thanks, I think?' He laughed.

'I mean I like having you as a friend!'

'I know, and if someone were to happen with us I wouldn't want to make it awkward for Tris and I wouldn't want to risk losing him as my best mate so don't worry, we're all good'

'Well this is a relief' I laughed. 'I've been thinking all day how to let you down gently but turns out I was just overthinking things!'

'That's definitely a girls thing to do'

'Oh, you have a lot of experience then?' I winked.

'No! I just had a crazy ex girlfriend who used to over think every single thing but just kept it to herself until one day she just went psycho on me'

'That sounds like my ex's ex' I laughed.

'Really? I feel sorry for him then' he laughed back.

'Trust me, she was super crazy. She'd always worm her way back into his life! Ugh, just thinking about her makes me angry!'

'Her name wasn't Lucy by any chance' he burst out laughing.

I just looked at him.

'What? Her name was Lucy? Coincidence!'

'Yeah you're right, I'm sure there are plenty of girls called Lucy who are a bit crazy'

'Yeah!'

'Well this means I definitely can't go out with you if she's in your life, I don't want to deal with her again!' I laughed as we walked into the hotel to our rooms.
