Chapter 22: Confusion

2 weeks later

Lily's Pov.

I haven't talked to Justin for 2 weeks. I don't know. I just need a break from him. My mom didn't find out that I didn't go on the field trip. And I still haven't told any of my friends. They got a little angry about it but they forgave me. I can't exactly tell them even if I really wanted to. I mean you can't just tell someone that your boyfriend is a vampire. I haven't really been doing much since we left Paris.

Now I'm laying in my bed. I just woke up. I got up went to the bathroom to brush my hair. Instead of brushing my hair I just decided to throw it up into a messy bun. I headed downstairs to the kitchen to get some cereal. My mom got a new job so were going to be moving again soon. We're not moving far, were just going to a bigger house. Ill have my own room again.

I went into our mini pantry and grabbed a box of cereal. I grabbed a bowl and poured some cereal into it. I went and grabbed some milk and poured some of that into the bowl. Then I put the milk and cereal away and grabbed a spoon. I headed into the living room and turned on the T.V. it was preset to the news. I was about to change it when something caught my eye "Roderick has been released from jail. "There wasn't enough evidence to keep him in jail." Says Mr. Downsy, Roderick's lawyer." In the corner a photo of a buff looking man. Wait a second I know him. He's the man that was helping Roderick the second time I got kidnapped!

I quickly grabbed my phone and without thinking I called Justin.

Justin: hello?

His voice was tired and sexy.

Lily: hey, Roderick just got released today. But his lawyer isn't a real lawyer. It's one of the people who helped kidnap me the second time.

Justin: wait what? You got kidnapped 2 times? I thought it was just the once with me?!

Lily: oh yea...I forgot to tell you.

Justin: Lily-

Lily: Justin. What if he comes after you?

Justin: Lily ill be fine

He was half laughing now.

Justin: do you want me to come over?

Lily: no. I'm fine. I can take care of myself.

Justin: Lily I miss you. I haven't seen you for a while.

Lily: yea. I know. Listen I have to go. Bye.

I pressed end. Was I being to harsh on him? No. He'll understand. But I felt like we were rushing our relationship before. I mean I knew him for a week or two. I never even found out how he became a vampire. And now that I think of it what was his middle name?

Justin's Pov.

Lily still isn't talking to me and I don't even know why. When I left her we were fine. She has no reason to be mad at me. So why is she? When she called me I was hoping that maybe it would be about us, but it's worse. Lily could be in danger. And even though she said she could handle herself I want to be there to protect her. I got off my bed that was already made and went downstairs. "Well if it isn't lovebird himself. Glad to see you without your little clinging monkey on your arm." That was my brother. And he was talking about Lily. I wanted to punch him in the face so hard, he's the reason I'm in this mess, he's the reason Lily's in danger.

I didn't pick a fight because I knew I would lose. My brother is one of the strongest vampires out there. Other vampires all around the world know he exist. And me? Well I'm just known as the wimpy little brother who falls in love with humans.

Lily's Pov.

I finished my cereal so I went to go put my bowl in the sink. I thought I heard something from the living room so I walked in to see who it was but there was no one there. That's weird. And creepy. Then I heard it "Finally, I get to be alone with you Lily." I knew that voice. I didn't want to turn around because that would mean all of this is true. But I did. When I turned around I saw Roderick standing there with a huge smirk on his face.
