Chapter 30
Blake's P.O.V
About five people's faces ran through my mind when I heard the knock at the door. I expected it to be Adam or someone from the band or Grace. The actual person behind the wooden frame left me stunned.
"Lisa?" I asked.
She gave me a weak smile and a small wave. I never thought I'd see her again after I beat up her...friends. She was dressed casually in a t-shirt and jean shorts, but her hair was messier compared to its usual perfection. And another thing, her eyes were red and puffy. She'd been crying.
"What's wrong?" I asked her with honest concern.
Her voice shook when she spoke, "I have to tell you something."
I felt my heart begin to pound in my chest. Something in the back of my mind told me it was about Grace. Was she okay? Was She hurt? I knew I should have checked on her last night.
Before I could jump to any conclusions, I invited Lisa inside. "Want to come in?"
She nodded and timidly stepped inside my house. Just then, my mother walked by and grabbed her jacket off of the coat hanger. "I'm going out for a little while to cool off. Don't do anything that will make me angry when I get back."
That comment was directed at me. Jimmy seemed to be tagging along with her. I sighed, "Okay, see ya."
She just waved her hand in dismissal and didn't even take notice to Lisa. Her car pulled out of the driveway a few moments later and she sped down our street.
Lisa and I were left alone in the now silent house. I could feel the awkwardness settling in around us. "Do you want to sit down?" I asked to break the silence.
She just gave me another nod. I guess she wasn't in a talkative mood this morning. We sat down on the couch in my living room. The last time we were here together was when she pushed me off of her and announced that she had a date with another guy later that same day.
You can imagine how awkward it was for the two of us. We sat on opposite ends of the couch and she never took her eyes off her shoes when she spoke. "I have bad news, Blake. Really bad news."
"Okay..." I said uneasily.
Silence wrapped around us again as she stared down the floor. It looked like she was at a loss of words. "Grace wasn't with you last night, was she?"
At the mentioning of her name, my breath caught. "No..." I said slowly, "She wasn't."
Lisa let out a shaky breathe, "Do you know where she was?"
