I didn't want to go home because I knew my parents and Kristen would ask why I was so distraught. I just wasn't ready to explain what had happened because I knew that I would end up getting really upset.
I had to go somewhere though, so I drove to the only two people that I knew I could trust. I drove to Justin and Derek's house. I knew that I had only known them for a couple of days but for some reason we had a connection. That kiss with Justin was really special and Derek just had a way about him that was very trusting.
Pulling back up in front of their house, I put my car in park and just sat there for a minute. I wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do or not but it was the only place that I had to go.
I opened the door and got out. I proceeded up to their door, and rang the door bell. After a couple of seconds had went by, Justin opened the door.
"You're back." He said as he smiled. "Where's your friend Avery?"
I tried my best to fake a smile but I could feel the tears starting to form again.
"Are you okay Kelsey?" He asked as he stepped closer to me.
I just shook my head and looked down at my feet. "Can I come in?"
"Yea sure!" He stepped back and opened the door wider for me to step through. I immediately went over to the couch and collapsed. I was so tired and I just needed some rest.
Derek came out of the kitchen and smiled at me. "What are you doing back?"
As he got closer, he saw that I was crying.
"What's wrong?" He walked over and sat beside me. Justin did the same.
"Well, Avery is gone. She had to leave." Tears streamed down my face.
"What do you mean?" Justin asked.
"Her and her mom have been arguing lately and she just had enough. Shes on the way to her aunts house right now. She'll be there for the rest of the school year."
"Damn. That's terrible." Derek threw out.
"Yea. So now my best friend is gone, and I'm basically forever alone." I laughed at my terrible misfortune.
"Nawh shawty you got me." Justin winked and wrapped his arm around me.
"And I'm here too." Derek added.
"Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. I know that I've only known you two for a couple of days but I trust you guys. I know you will keep me safe. Unless you are psycho killers." At first I was just joking but then I realized that Derek had never told me why people called then "bad asses."
"Wait a second. Maybe you are. I mean you have this whole 'bad ass' rep going and you never told me how you two got it."
Derek cleared his throat, and Justin took his arm from around me. The whole room grew awkwardly silent.
"Did I say something wrong?" I asked.
They both continued to sit there in silence before Derek finally spoke up. "I think you've had enough stress for one night. How about we tell you tomorrow."
"Ugh fine!" I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone. I had a text from Kristen.
Kristen: when are you coming home?
I decided not to tell her my plans of staying the night at Justin and Derek's. I didn't feel like answering questions.
Me: I'm spending the night at a friends. Can you tell mom and dad for me? I'm kinda busy right now.
She texted back rally fast.
Kristen: sure. Have a good night:) see you tomorrow.
I put my phone down and sighed. I really hated not being able to tell her the truth. She was now the closest person that I had to tell everything to but I just wasn't ready yet.
"Hey I have one more favor to ask of you guys."
"What is it?" Derek answered.
"Is there anyway I can spend the night here tonight? I really don't feel like going home and explaining what happened today to my parents."
"Of corse. Just make your self at home...but don't you need more clothes for school tomorrow?"
"Yea i'll just get up early tomorrow and run and get some clothes."
"Sounds good." He said as he stood up. "So you can sleep in my bed and ill sleep on the couch or....."
"No the couch is fine for me!" I replied.
"Okay good. Well I guess ill just get you some blankets then."
"No I got it." Justin said as he walked over towards the closet.
"Alright. Well I'm gonna go ahead up. Goodnight. Ill see you in the morning." Derek said as he headed up the stairs.
"Goodnight." I said back.
He continued walking up the stairs and I sat there and waited for Justin to come back with the blankets. When he did, he plopped them down beside me as he smiled.
"Here ya go."
"Thank you Justin."
"Your welcome. So ill see you in the morning." He said as he headed up the stairs too.
"Wait! Justin?"
"Yea?"
"We need to talk....about that kiss."
He smiled again and looked into my eyes. "We will. Tomorrow. You just need to get some rest right now. Good night Kelsey." He winked and then continued climbing up the stairs before I could add anything else.
"Good night." I called out.
I grabbed my phone and began scrolling through it as I laid back on the couch. Petty soon, I felt my eyelids start to get heavy, and I fell asleep.
