"So he actually died?" I asked. I was shocked and slightly scared at the same time. I knew Justin and Derek would never hurt me, but I still had to be extra careful now.

"Yea he did." Justin spoke up.

"Well what happened? How come you guys aren't like, in jail right now." I had a very blunt way of asking questions but at least I would get my answer.

"Well here comes the complicated part." Derek chimed in.

"What?!" I interrupted. "How are we not already at the complicated parts?"

"Just listen." He rolled his eyes and started back. "When I got up off of the ground, I saw that he was just lying there stiff. We tried to help him but it was just too late. He was already gone. That's when we freaked out and went back to Ray's place."

"Who is Ray?" I questioned.

"Ray is the drug dealer we use to work for." He started back. "So we went back to Ray's and tried to get his help. He told us that he had been trying to kill that guy for over two years, and that we basically did him a favor. He also said that he would take care of the body for us, under one condition."

"Well that's good then right?"

This time, Justin picked up with the story. "It was good for him. He basically black mailed us and told us that we had to pay him back all of his money plus some extra or he would turn me and Derek in. And I mean of course we had to go and get the money because there was no way we were going to prison."

"So how did you guys end up here?"

"Well Ray said that he didn't have enough drug deals for us to do to pay him back in Chicago, so he sent us here and told us that we were going to start working for Brian until all of our money gets paid back. We talked our parents into coming here by telling them that we thought this area would be easier for us to focus on school and they believed us. It actually worked out for them because they got more job opportunities. That's why they're gone most of the time." He picked up his drink and took a sip. "And so now we are working for Brian but as you saw, he wants his money sometime soon so we are kind of fucked."

There was a long break before Derek spoke up. "So now you know just about everything."

"Damn. I guess I do. But wait, how did that police officer know you back at the party?"

"Oh well when we first moved here, we immediately kept getting in trouble with different things and he was always the one to get called to come arrest us. After a while I guess he just kinda started letting us go."

"Does he know what happened in Chicago?"

"No. All he knows is that we were involved with drus. As of right now, you are the only one that knows what happened and it needs to stay that way."

"I won't tell anyone. I promise."

All of a sudden, my phone beeped. I saw that it was a text from Kristen.

Kristen: Hey. Do you want to meet me at Starbucks afterschool today to catch up? Ive been here for awhile but I feel as though I haven't even seen you yet.

Me: sure. Meet you around 3?

Kristen: sounds good

I looked at the time on my phone, and stood up. "Shoot its already 2:00 and I have to find a way to sneak home to get a change of clothes so I can meet my cousin at 3:00 today. Thanks again for trusting me with all of this. I promise I wont tell anyone."

Derek nodded his head and walked to the kitchen. "Later."

While he did that, Justin got up and went to walk me out. "Thanks for understanding Kelsey."

"No problem. I'm just glad that I finally got an understanding of why people think you're so tough."

I barely got that out before Justin reached down and kissed my lips. I quickly pulled my head away in shock. "Look Justin, I kinda like you but I just don't think im ready to date now. You guys aren't that stable right now and I know im not and this just isn't gonna work out."

I could see the anger building up on his face. "Kelsey what do you mean?! I thought we had something. I mean that kiss felt special to you right?" He pulled me tighter and squeezed my arm in an almost aggressive way.

I jerked it away and looked up into his eyes with a confused look. "Yes it meant something special but you are going to have to forget that kiss Justin. I just don't think we can be together. I'm sorry"

We must have been really loud because Derek came from around the corner with furrowed brows. "You told me you weren't going to start liking her Justin!"

Justin rolled his eyes and looked over at Derek. "Oh look who's talking! Don't think that I don't notice the jealous looks you give me every time I say or do something with her."

Derek's face turned really red, and I could tell that he was about to blow up. "Oh fuck you Justin. Just take the hint that she's trying to throw at you. She doesn't want you!!!! If you would stop being a cocky dick, maybe you would realize that not every girl you meet wants you."

"Guys there's no need to fight. Just calm down. It doesn't matter who likes who. Im not ready for a relationship right now. End of story. So now im going home to get dressed, and I guess ill see you guys at school tomorrow."

Justin rolled his eyes and stormed off while Derek gave me a gentle smile and waved goodbye. I went out to my car, cranked it, and started driving to my house.

I wasn't really sure what I was going to do because I was starting to get some feelings for them. Both of them. I always liked Justin and when we kissed, sparks seemed to fly but on the other hand, Derek was special too. On the outside he looks really mean and tough, but on the inside he is gentle and caring. I knew that I shouldn't even be involved with either one of them but it was too late. I had already been sucked into their drama filled world and little did I know, there was a whole lot more to come..........
