you know i believe and how

It turned out that Dean was in a lot worse of a condition than everyone had thought. He had several broken rips and a concussion, he'd also lost a lot of blood, but it was nothing that the nurses couldn't take care of within a few days.

Cas had completely forgotten that his parents would be worried sick about him. If he kept this up there was no doubt in his mind that they would put him on lock down. Cas pulled his phone out of his pocket to reveal about twenty missed calls and fifty text messages. Even Gabriel had started calling him, he knew that this meant bad news.

"Shit," Cas hissed.

"What?" Dean asked, looking concerned.

"I forgot about my parents. Fuck, they're going to kill me." Cas started calling his dad back. "I'll be right back, okay?" He leaned down and pecked Dean on the lips before leaving the room.

The phone only rang once before his dad answered.

"Castiel where the hell have you been?!" The familiar voice shouted at him from over the phone. Cas winced.

"Sweetheart, calm down and let Castiel speak. You aren't helping at all by yelling at him." The soothing voice of his mother whispered.

"He deserves to be yelled at! This is the third time in less than two weeks that something like this has happened?! The last time was only yesterday! What the hell is going on with you?!"

"I'm so sorry, Hester and I got really-"

"We called Hester!" His father shouted again. "She told me that the last time she saw you was lunch! That you didn't even wait for her after school! No son of mine would be so rude!"

Cas felt his heart drop. Shit. Cas ran a hand through his hair and racked his brain for another explanation.

"Dad, look... Something came up and-"

"What the hell came up that would be so important and why wouldn't you tell your own father?!"

Cas gritted his teeth. He tried to hold back, he really did. "Oh, I don't know, maybe it's because no matter how perfect I try to be you always manage to degrade me and judge me! It's kind of hard to trust and love your father when he doesn't trust and love you!" He shouted into the phone before hanging up.

After taking in a few deep breaths, he went back into Dean's hospital room and sat down. "Hey," he sighed warily, forcing a smile.

Dean furrowed his eyebrows. "What happened?" He asked.

Cas shook his head. "Oh, nothing. I, uh, came up with something. It's all good." Cas lied.

Dean rolled his eyes again."Cas, how the hell am I supposed to trust you when you never tell me the truth?"

Cas winced a little. "No... You're... You're right." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "But it's really not that important, okay? There are bigger problems going on right now and you don't need anymore weight on your shoulders-"

The nurse walked in with a clipboard and pen. It was all the test results.

"Hello, Mr. Winchester, Mr. Novak." She nodded to the both of them. "Your head is looking just fine, there most likely won't be any lasting effects that we know of, but you will need to take some medication for that. You will also need to start taking some iron medication for the blood loss. Be sure to eat lots of fruits, vegetables-"
