Ch.1- First Encounters

Jadyn's POV•

It was a typical Wednesday evening in April. Spring break was just 4 days away, and we would get the entire week off! Of course me and my friends didn't have any plans of going anywhere, even though we all really wanted to.

My phone rang as I sat on my furry yellow rug in disbelief. I stared at my phone screen reading the name over and over, realizing that if I didn't answer it would go to voicemail immediately. Taking a deep breath, I clicked answer before any second thoughts. I slowly brought the phone up to my ear.

"Hi Carter." I said trying to sound normal.

In case you didn't know, Carter is part of this whole Vine Magcon Family thing. Unless you're a true viner, you most likely wouldn't understand. 4 out of the 9 Magcon boys live here in Orlando, Florida. They go to my school, Anchor Beach High School to be exact. I honestly don't know how Carter got my phone number because at school he normally doesn't talk to me unless we pass each other in the hallways.

"Hi Jadyn... Or should I call you Jay?" He chuckled.

"Jadyn works. That's what my family and friends at school call me." I told him, sounding somewhat nervous. Hopefully he couldn't notice through the phone.

"Oh, okay. Well anyways I was wondering if you wanted to catch a movie this Friday? I'm inviting my friends Taylor, Matthew, and Shawn so you could bring a few of your friends too. I guess you could call it a quadruple date/hangout, haha. But if you have plans we could always schedule for later." Carter explained, making sure I was able to catch on.

I couldn't help but freeze with excitement. I was 100% sure that my best friends Bridgid, Meghan, and Katie would seriously be the happiest people in the world to hear the news!

"Hi, Carter? Yeah sorry about that. We would love to go with you guys." I told him, trying to sound cool. I didn't want fangirl over him on the phone and make him regret asking us to go.

"Great! I mean, uh cool. Meet you guys there at 7:00?" He asked.

"Yeah, 7:00's good. See you then!" Once again I tried not to sound too excited. He'd think I was crazy or something.

"Ok. Well, bye." He said.

"Bye."

I took my phone away from my ear and ended the call. I sat there in excitement, but still confusion of how I would ever in a million years get my mom to let me go to the movies with everyone. Instead of worrying about that, I decide to dial in Bridgid, Meghan, and Katie's phone numbers' on a group call to tell them the exciting news. I knew they were gonna freak!

I decided to start the call with Bridgid. The phone rang four times before she answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey Bridgid." I responded. "One second, I'm going to add Katie and Meghan to the call."

Before waiting for her response, I quickly pulled my iPhone away from my ear and searched through my contacts. Seconds later I could hear it ringing.

"Hello?" Katie and Meghan respond almost at the exact same time.

"Hey!" Bridgid and I said excitedly.

"Guys. You'll never believe what happened! I'm still jumping with joy now!" I yelled into my phone.

"Ow." They all replied mostly irritated. Oops, guess I was yelling a little too loud.

"What is it?" They asked in confusion and curiosity.

"CARTER REYNOLDS INVITED US TO ALL GO TO THE MOVIES WITH HIM AND HIS FRIENDS FRIDAY NIGHT! AHHHHH!!!!!!" I screamed into the phone unable to contain my excitement any longer.

"Whoa whoa, slow down. I couldn't understand a word you just said!" Meghan laughed.

"She said something about going to the movies with Carter and his friends, right?" Katie asked uncertainly.

"Seriously? Awesome!" Bridgid shrieked. "We're going on a movie date with the one and only Magcon! Ahhh!"

"You guys can all come over after school friday and we'll carpool over to the movies to meet up with them." I explained trying to stay calm.

"Sounds like a plan." They all reassured me.

"Omg spending our Friday night with Magcon? This is gonna be the best night ever! I definitely can't wait." Meghan screamed.

"I know right? Haha." Katie responded.

"Ok guys well I gotta take my shower and get ready for bed now. Huge exam tomorrow morning." Bridgid said depressed. "Bye." She said before leaving the call.

"Same here. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow. See you at school." Katie said before leaving the group call too.

"Ok well I'll see you tomorrow morning in Biology. Adios!" Meghan joked and left the call, leaving me with me, myself, and I.

Right as I end the call, my mom calls me down for dinner. I stand up, nearly tipping back sideways from the headache I hadn't noticed I'd developed from screaming of joy. I slip on my favorite pink and purple slippers, stuff my phone in my pants pocket, and make my way downstairs.

After finishing my dinner, I set my plate down in the sink and turned out the kitchen lights. I headed to my room to get dressed for bed.

Once I walked into my bedroom and silently closed the door, I felt a cold chill. Realizing I had forgotten to turn off my white ceiling fan, I flipped the switch and watched the mesmerizing circling action of the fan slow down to a complete stop. I walked over to my dresser and put on a loose t-shirt with red sweatpants. While I laid my phone down on my nightstand next to my bed I reached down to grab the charger cord and plug my phone in. I proceeded to walk over to my light switch and flicked it off. I cautiously felt my way back to my bed trying not to bump into anything. As always, I failed at this easy attempt.

"Fuck!" I murmured under my breath, trying not to awaken my mom.

Running your knee into something is one thing, but stubbing your toe on the metal footboard of your bed is like bloody hell. 'God that hurt so much' I painfully thought to myself. I staggered like a drunkard at a bar to my bed, where I retreated onto my back and massaged my toe until the pounding pain went away. I slid my body fully onto the bed and turned onto my side. Hopefully tonight I would fall asleep and dream about Carter and me falling in love with each other.

Tucking myself under the covers, I easily drifted off to sleep with the thoughts of Friday still on my mind.
